I will not be covering this event on the podcast or watching it. I am crystal clear. The government of India should not allow the Indian cricket team to play in this tournament if Pakistan is involved.
Did you know?
During the 1946 Direct Action Day riots, naked bodies of Hindu girls were found hanging by their hair in Rajabazar, Kolkata.
Arms and legs severed.
Like carcasses in a slaughterhouse.
This wasn’t violence.
It was barbarity.

Person A drives responsibly, follows guidelines, gets regular servicing and maintenance.
Person B drives recklessly, ignores maintenance, and the car ends up in terrible shape.
Yet, in the Republic of India, both are treated the same. Once a car hits 10 or 15 years, it’s deemed unfit, regardless of how well it's maintained or how clean it runs. So where’s the incentive for being a model citizen?
If age alone decides a car's fate, why bother with PUC? No car ever fails it anyway, even those belching black smoke somehow pass. At the very least, stop this PUC farce if cars are to be scrapped based purely on age, regardless of their emission status. This is nothing but institutionalized extortion, a system that punishes the responsible.
Because the govt failed to weed out polluting vehicles through robust PUC enforcement, it’s now hiding that failure behind a blanket age-based ban. It’s NCR today, the whole country tomorrow.
Delhi govt’s move to arbitrarily label 10/15 year-old vehicles as junk is a textbook “Tughlaqi farmaan.”
62 lakh vehicles are now off the road, affecting as many families, roughly 2–2.2 crore people. This will have consequences.
The phase-out could’ve been smarter: start with the oldest vehicles, then strengthen PUC enforcement and weed out those that fail. Well-maintained, low-emission vehicles could’ve been few years to plan and offered substantial tax cuts on new purchases. A gradual, targeted approach would’ve reduced the shock and built public trust.
Everyone except the public stands to gain from this. If affected people end up buying new vehicles, the auto lobby will see the biggest business boost in their history. The govt will rake in ₹4–10 lakh crore in taxes, and the insurance industry too will earn handsomely.
A win-win for the govt and big business. And if pollution drops by even 1%, which is doubtful, the govt will be the first to take credit, while the very people forced to bear the financial burden of this exercise won’t even be acknowledged. They simply can’t touch the farmers who burn parali and choke NCR, so instead, they keep squeezing the only group they can, the middle class.
My Mamaji is a small farmer in a village in Baghpat. Not the best man, alcoholic, short-tempered, never really tried to improve the family’s financial condition.
Mamiji is a very kind woman. She came from a much better-off family financially but hardly received the respect a wife deserves.
They have three children, all grown up now. The eldest moved out of the village, did small jobs, climbed his way up, and is now doing well in Bengaluru. But success seems to have gone to his head, he doesn’t even call his mother anymore. The middle one, a good daughter, is married to a CISF personnel and doing well.
This post, though, is about the youngest, Gaurav. Gaurav is one of the best human beings I know. Hardworking, humble, honest, and deeply family-oriented. With his father often drunk and absent, he managed the farming alone, continued his studies, and kept preparing for govt jobs. He even looked after his father’s medical needs, despite the neglect he grew up with. Due to poverty, small landholding, and low income, he wasn’t even getting marriage proposals.
But this year, Gaurav cleared the UP Police constable exam. He’s now undergoing training in Budaun. It might seem like a small thing to some, but for him it's life-changing. And the best part, he got in purely on merit, without paying a single rupee in bribe.
I thought maybe it was an exception but he told me six others from nearby villages also made it, none paid a bribe. So in all likelihood the exam and selection process was fair.
I’m sharing this to highlight how free and fair exams can transform the lives of poor but deserving people. If this recruitment had involved bribery, Gaurav wouldn’t have stood a chance.
Unfortunately, free and fair exams, the bare minimum we expect, still aren’t the norm in India. But I see hope now.

Zubair Khan is continuously insulting Hindu religion, such people should be punished.
We have to unite and raise our voice against such people.

The CDS shouldn't have given an interview to a media outlet known for its anti-India stance, especially not from foreign soil.
If it was deemed necessary, he should have adhered strictly to the official narrative: “Losses are a part of combat, but what matters is that we achieved our objectives.”
While he didn’t disclose anything that wasn't already known publically, in diplomacy and foreign affairs, the choice of words is critical. Unfortunately, his remarks are now being misused to bolster Pakistan’s false "6-0 jet kill" narrative.
Worse : When asked about the threat of nuclear war, he said, “The most rational people during conflict are those in uniform... both sides showed rational conduct... so why assume irrationality in the nuclear domain?"
This is more damaging than it seems. By calling Pakistan’s military “rational,” he inadvertently legitimizes their false image as a responsible nuclear power, despite their history of nuclear brinkmanship, first-strike threats, and using nukes as cover for terrorism.
Such statements undermine India’s consistent stance on Pakistan’s reckless nuclear behavior and send the wrong signal internationally.
It’s hard to believe that the GoI would have approved these talking points. Clearly, there seems to be a serious lapse in communication judgment on the part of the CDS. There’s a reason Army Chiefs generally don’t give live interviews. Why the CDS agreed to one, on foreign soil, and that too to Bloomberg, is beyond understanding.
