His excuse? Candidates need to be “back in their states” so voters can see them... Convenient.

While election integrity legislation that Americans have demanded for months sits unfinished, Thune’s priority is protecting vacation schedules.

Leaders who actually want to secure elections don’t bolt for the exits when the hard vote is finally in reach.
