Expanding the impact of inter-institutional collaboration on sustainable bioproduction, TERI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (@csiriiim), Jammu, on June 11, 2026, for the upscaling and optimization of anthraquinone-based pigment production from endophytic fungi through fermentation technology.
The MoU was signed by @DrVibhaDhawan, Director General, TERI, and @zabeerahmedb, Director, CSIR-IIIM, in the presence of Mr Deepak Kumar (TERI), Dr Mayurika Goel (TERI), and Dr Saurabh Saran (CSIR-IIIM).
Dr Vibha Dhawan highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge and infrastructure to address skill gaps and create tangible impact, while Dr Zabeer Ahmed emphasized the role of scientific partnerships in translating research into scalable industrial solutions.
The collaboration brings together TERI's expertise in sustainable agriculture and biotechnology with CSIR-IIIM's strengths in natural product chemistry and fermentation sciences to advance green, science-led industrial processes.

A PhD scholar in the Infectious Diseases Division at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu. Sapna has earned this highly competitive international fellowship for her outstanding research on identifying novel chemical scaffolds to combat drug-resistant tuberculosis under the supervision of Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Senior Scientist, CSIR-IIIM Jammu.
As part of fellowship, she will conduct preclinical evaluation of promising anti-tubercular lead compounds at Johns Hopkins Univerisity, Maryland, US.

Lavender Festival 2026 Concludes with a Vision for Global Growth
The two-day Lavender Festival 2026 at Bhaderwah concluded successfully, bringing together farmers, scientists, entrepreneurs, industry leaders and policymakers to celebrate the achievements of the CSIR Aroma Mission and chart the future of India's Purple Revolution.
Addressing the valedictory session, Director CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, emphasized the need to translate the vision of “Lavender Goes Global” into actionable outcomes through innovation, value addition, market expansion and stronger industry-farmer partnerships.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhaderwah, Sunil Kumar Bhutyal, who graced the occasion, highlighted the transformative impact of the Aroma Mission in positioning Bhaderwah as India's Lavender Capital and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to supporting the growth of the lavender ecosystem.

“Yuva Kaushal Karyashala 4.0” begins at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine with participants from different academic institutions receiving hands-on training in Biological Sciences, fermentation technology, microbial biotechnology and advanced analytical instrumentation.
The 10-day programme, inaugurated under the leadership of Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM Jammu, aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical scientific research while promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and startup culture among young students.

CSIR-IIIM Jammu, in collaboration with the Directorate of AYUSH and J&K Medicinal Plants Board, successfully organized a Buyer–Seller Meet at Bhaderwah to strengthen the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
A major highlight was the signing of six MoUs between farmers and industry stakeholders for assured supply of raw medicinal plant material, strengthening market linkages and ensuring better returns for growers.

J&K Science & Technology Department and CSIR–IIIM Jammu held a joint review meeting on the progress of Industrial Biotech Parks at Ghatti Kathua and Handwara at CSIR–IIIM Jammu.
