Just had a candid conversation with a very well known CA friend. According to him, the stock market is not reflecting the pain in the economy. Almost all the businesses are complaining of low sales and dent in profitability. No one is hiring. People are looking to cut costs to boost profitability.

As per his analysis the stock market is up just because of the SIP flows and TINA(There is no Alternative) factor. Big institutions and promoters are selling and poor retail is lapping up stocks whose prices are up just because of liquidity and not because of actual earnings.

The day SIP flows dry up the market will correct very very sharply. He is pretty confident of the fact that the stock market will align with the economy sooner than later.
