The series of NEET related posts won’t be complete without a discussion on NRI quota.

Here are some points

- A student doesn’t need to have set foot outside India ever to avail this quota. He simply needs a sponsor (first degree relative) who lives abroad and is willing to pay the fees

- Student is usually Indian national, but OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), PIO (Person of Indian Origin) too are allowed

- MBBS Fees can be $225000 for the whole course (₹1.8 crores) to be paid upfront in US dollars in TN

- Number of seats is capped at 15 %. So in a college with 250 seats upto 40 can be NRI. Not all seats are filled due to high cost

- at 15% NRI as a category has more reservation than some caste categories

- NRI quota is caste agnostic. Money is the only entry ticket.

- The cut off for NRI quota in private college is significantly lower than the cut off for SC category in govt college

- NRI quota is an almost merit free pathway for rich, but for mysterious reasons doesn’t draw flak like reservation 😬

@theliverdoc Sir,I read in biochem that eggs have avidin and they decrease the absorption of biotin. Is it true only for raw eggs or even for the properly boiled eggs?I eat daily 3-4 whole eggs with weight training.Can deficiency of biotin hamper hair growth?
