@laurenpayne2012 @amandaaa_fuller Exactly my point. The land they built it on greatly appreciated and building costs went up immensely over 50+ years. Both rose at much higher rates than depreciation (which sits at around 1.5-2% per year on most residences).

@laurenpayne2012 @amandaaa_fuller There aren't many ways to create higher value in your primary house without spending additional money.... you need for the land underneath it to appreciate at a higher rate than the improvement depreciation or new construction costs to rise at a higher rate than depreciation.
