🚨NEW: A Hawaiian man knocked out a Democratic congressional candidate with one punch after he allegedly threatened to shoot a woman at a Maui beach.

Police say Kirill Basin, 40, became enraged after a 61-year-old man asked him to lower his music.

Basin allegedly threatened to shoot the man’s wife and several bystanders.

A local man seen approaching in the background confronted Basin, knocked him out, then calmly told him to stop threatening people.

Police say Basin later pulled a knife and continued threatening people.

When officers arrived, he allegedly threw the knife into the ocean.

The same bystander swam out, recovered the knife, and handed it to police.

Basin was charged with two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. Bail was set at $1 million.

Police say he has also been arrested in other assault and property-damage cases since May, and several people have obtained temporary restraining orders against him.

Sounds like another successful day connecting with voters on the campaign trail!

Here are the phone numbers from one of the Indian smuggling network group chats I’m currently in.

One of the admins in this group is who I arranged a faux human smuggling deal to sneak me and my family into the United States.

Notice how many of the phone numbers begin with the +91 country code. That’s India’s country calling code.

This is just one of many active groups, each with hundreds to thousands of members, not including the additional contacts generated through their advertisements on social media. Most people being smuggled reach out directly to the fixer instead of joining these groups as it’s more discreet.

You’ll also notice U.S. phone numbers throughout the chat.

The group administrators are the fixers and smugglers coordinating these operations. The participants are individuals who have used, are using, or are seeking these smuggling services.

Based on my reporting, these networks don’t just facilitate illegal entry. They also advertise assistance with transportation, housing, food, and connecting clients with employment after they arrive in the United States.

These are decentralized but coordinated international smuggling networks operating across India, Canada, and the United States. The process typically begins with contacts in India, transitions to facilitators in Canada, and then connects clients with contacts inside the United States to complete the journey.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans struggling to afford housing, feed their families, or find stable work are on their own. While also feeling the pressure of demographic and cultural change in the very communities they grew up in and call home.
