Feeling extreme guilt about how little we think about our waste once bin lorries have taken it away. This community in Newcastle-Under-Lyme is being poisoned, their children unable to breathe, because of how much we send to landfill and the gasses produced. #StopTheStink
@EnvAgencyMids Here’s an idea, instead of investing time, money and resources into appealing the court ruling, why don’t you invest that same effort into doing your job at the landfill? We all know that if you employed someone to be on site at all times the situation would improve dramatically
@EnvAgencyMids It’s not just the distress it is causing but the ill health of many residents, including humans and animals living in the areas surrounding @WalleysQ. @PHE_uk are working on data for short-term acute exposure but this is now chronic! Urgent action is needed not appeals to delay!
@EnvAgencyMids Instead of dragging this out with appeals how about you just stop dossing and get to work.
Get off your asses and do something. And not before time.
@EnvAgencyMids As you are a government funded organisation and I am a tax payer. I would rather you didn’t use tax payer money to appeal any aspect of the judgment.
@EnvAgencyMids You've just been told that you haven't done enough and that, quote from Mr Justice Fordham: 'the @EnvAgency can do much much more than is currently being done!' TAKE NOTE!
@EnvAgencyMids Judgment: “I have made clear that I am not satisfied, on the evidence, that the EA has yet addressed its legal duties in the way that it must. But there is an obvious and pressing public interest imperative that it must do so, as a matter of urgency. It is well able to do so.”
@Tu_M__ @EnvAgencyMids If you were a responsible public agency this is the bit you wld have mentioned. You have not addressed your legal duties & if you continue as u are u will have breached ur legal duties. Ignoring this says everything about your attitude and why the community has no faith in you.
@EnvAgencyMids ‘We will continue to do everything we can’😮but that’s the point, you haven’t done everything. The judgement says you’ve failed in your legal https://t.co/lekWv3gs2m’s ordered hydrogen sulphide to be reduced to a level less than an eighth of current levels https://t.co/73BlVgNq43
@EnvAgencyMids You’ve failed to protect the communities human rights. Why would you want to appeal? The ruling is for you to do everything you can to #stopthestink. Why fight against it if that is what you are trying to achieve? 🤔
@EnvAgencyMids Should be a public enquiry into your handling of @WalleysQ, wasting taxpayers money, trying to make it harder for communities to win these judgements just proves you are on the side of the permit breaching, community poisoning operator. Do not spend my taxes on your appeal.
@EnvAgencyMids I hope you now have more powers to protect our community, this week the gases have been worse than ever, and when will @WalleysQ be punished for poisoning us all? What are you going to do that you havent already done as it’s getting worse not better
(4/4) And finally from you, the community:
Every report logged, every protest attended, every leaflet dropped, every Tweet shared, every Facebook post posted, every news article gathered. It all helped.
A tremendous victory indeed. Thank you all for helping to #StopTheStink.
@EnvAgencyMids Can you please state online what you are appealing? I’m struggling to see if you’re on the side of supporting people’s health or a defunct landfill site?
