Department of School Education & Literacy is embedding sustainability into everyday classroom learning through #EcoClubs4MissionLiFE, reinforcing the vision of #NEP2020...Every child is thus being empowered to become a responsible steward of the environment.
Aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE 2023), @ncert has introduced new textbooks for Grades 1–8 that integrate environmental concerns as a cross-cutting theme across subjects. To further strengthen environmental awareness, the textbooks are being enriched with the Mission LiFE logo, Prakriti mascot and QR code explaining Mission LiFE, enabling school students to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour from an early age.

School Management Committee (SMC) play a vital role in strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) under the NIPUN Bharat Mission, in line with the vision of #NEP2020 which prioritizes universal #FLN by Grade 2. By ensuring active participation of parents and the community, they help create nurturing and inclusive learning environments.
SMC encourage the use of the mother tongue or local language in early grades, promote reading habits through community-supported reading corners, organize storytelling sessions and support parent-led reading initiatives that make learning more engaging and meaningful for children. School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines will be launched on 6th May 2026.
