Atmospheric methane continues to accelerate, likely due to increased rainfall & warming causing greater emissions from wetlands (particularly in the tropics).
Though, methane expert Euan Nisbet is worried something more terminal might be going on...😬

When all the garbage, misinformation, propaganda, bullshit etc is cast aside, we're left with an appallingly simple situation.
2C is baked-in by 2050 says Hansen. Ramanathan says 'by 2045'. Latest climate models say 2043. IPCC range starts at 2041.
2C global = 3C+ on land, up from current 1.8C. Civilisation can't possibly withstand that.
The GHGs already in the air heat the Earth to 10°C, so extinction is also baked in.
Tipping points have been used cynically as a propaganda tool. They never do quite tip, do they.
There's nothing we can do about the coming environmental destruction, but there's a huge amount we can do to try to protect ourselves.
James Hansen: "Eventual global warming due to today's GHG forcing alone - after slow feedbacks operate - is about 10°C."
1,100 billion tonnes of human CO2 already in the atmosphere *weighs more than everything on Earth built by humans* and heats this planet to ~6°C. The other GHGs add a further ~4°C.
There is no way to get the GHGs including CO2 that weighs more than everything on Earth made by humans out of the air. Even if there was a way, there is no time.
Regardless of future emissions, concentrations of GHGs will continue to rise for centuries, with CO2 possibly peaking at double or even triple today's level.
This is because of the extreme sensitivity of amplifying feedbacks to the direct warming effect of human GHGs.
At today's level of 560ppm CO2-equivalent, the direct GHG warming effect of 1°C eventually causes an additional 9°C of warming by feedbacks.
Although it will take centuries and millennia for the Earth to fully adjust humanity's explosion of GHGs, a majority of the remaining ~9°C equilibrium warming can be expected to occur over the next 100 years.
Whatever you think about Sam, he has good insights and explains the dire situation we are in.
1.5 ° C is the current temperature on the North Pole. The Latent Heat Tipping Point or the technical Blue Ocean Event is now, prepare for impact. https://t.co/mkQCuLJ15B
The area equivalent of #Ireland x 2 has already been burnt this year in #Canada - Imagine the whole of Ireland being burned to the ground twice. These are crazy figures from the Pyrocene.
"Something strange is happening in the Pacific and we must find out why...Unexpectedly, the eastern Pacific Ocean is cooling. If this 'cold tongue' continues, it could reduce greenhouse gas warming by 30 per cent....FOR years, climate models have predicted that as greenhouse gas emissions rise, ocean waters will warm. For the most part, they have been correct. Yet in a patch of the Pacific Ocean, the opposite is happening. Stretching west from the coast of Ecuador for thousands of kilometres lies a tentacle of water that has been cooling for the past 30 years. Why is this swathe of the eastern Pacific defying our predictions? Welcome to the mystery of the cold tongue. This isn’t just an academic puzzle. [Pedro DiNezio](https://t.co/lRXuEpZ9Y0) at the University of Colorado Boulder calls it 'the most important unanswered question in climate science'. The trouble is that not knowing why this cooling is happening means we also don’t know when it will stop, or whether it will suddenly flip over into [warming](https://t.co/bj9HafMao8). This has global implications. The future of the cold tongue could determine whether [California is gripped by permanent drought](https://t.co/ZTF9KVeieW) or Australia by ever-deadlier wildfires. It influences the intensity of monsoon season in India and the chances of famine in the Horn of Africa........Some, including Battisti, think the drivers of Pacific cooling – the melting Antarctic ice, for example – are here to stay, making this a trend that is likely to linger. That could help to mitigate the warming effect of excess greenhouse gas emissions over the coming decades. It would also reduce the destructive power of El Niño. 'How strong El Niño events will be in the future depends a lot on how the long-term warming trends in the eastern Pacific turn out,' says Stuecker......However, some researchers think climate models will be proved right in the long run – that the basic physics of pumping vast volumes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere means the eastern Pacific will eventually 'flip' back to a warming state. When this reversal might happen is another matter: some say it could be in 20 years, others put it nearer to 100".

La ya débil institucionalidad ambiental ahora amenazada con ser completamente arrasada. Es un total despropósito fusionar Sernanp, Serfor y ANA solo para acelerar certificaciones ambientales https://t.co/mRiLnagcni vía @larepublica_pe
We are finally starting to get the crucial data needed to reduce the largest uncertainties of global climate change.
The most important graph in the world, of Earth’s Energy Imbalance, which is the rate at which heat is accumulating on our planet:
