Burkina Faso is not a democracy, it is a revolution and revolutions are not built on comfort, they are built on vigilance, sacrifice and survival.
- Ibrahim Traore

The Bela Bill MUST be supported! It’s actually disheartening that even 30 yrs later, our democracy still mirrors apartheid-era structures. We now have language, spatial planning and money as exclusionary tools instead of race….but the ultimate result is mainly racial exclusion!!
🚨🇧🇫- Treasury Deposit Bank to be launched tomorrow: CFA Franc days are numbered.
Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 has finally created a Treasury Deposits Bank that will be launched tomorrow under the leadership of @CapitaineIb226. Here’s the official communique of the government:
“The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE will officially launch the activities of the Treasury Deposit Bank (BDT), this Friday, August 2nd, 2024, at the Bank's headquarters housed within the Public Treasury in Koulouba.
The official launch of the activities of the Treasury Deposit Bank (BDT) reflects the government's desire to offer citizens banking services that are available and accessible throughout the territory, through regional, provincial and departmental treasuries.
The Treasury Deposit Bank, a public financial institution, is open to public institutions, State Companies and State Public Establishments, Projects and Programs, local authorities, international organizations, private companies, associations and NGOs as well as individuals.
With the mission of ensuring the banking function of the Public Treasury for the benefit of its customers, the BDT offers a full range of banking services including account opening, collection and management of resources, execution of operations. It provides its customers with digital payment methods and promotes the development of innovative banking services.
The commissioning of the Treasury Deposit Bank, through the banking services offered, will help meet the personal and professional needs of customers.”
With the creation of the Treasury Deposits Bank, Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 is moving closer to snatching its monetary sovereignty. As a reminder, francophone countries don’t have central banks. Forget about the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) you hear about, they are annexes of the Bank of France.
In the past, Francophone countries were told that they could hold gold reserves because they don’t have actual central banks, and only the Bank of France could do that for them.
Now that Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 has recently reviewed its Mining Code, the State will officially be able to stockpile gold reserves. Remember, the first gold bars made in Burkina are expected in September 2024.
So, with this Treasury Deposit Bank, Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 will be able to do its financial transactions without having to go through the BCEAO, and therefore without any interference from France 🇫🇷.
In other words, with this new development, it’s now a matter of time before the CFA franc is completely abolished.
The confederation of the AES is working to introduce a new common currency. So, I can boldly say the damn colonial currency days are numbered.
