Houston Coach Bill Yeoman invented the Triple Option by mistake.

At practice in 1964, preparing for a vaunted Penn State Defense, Coach Yeoman was trying to run Dive into an 8-Man Box.

They were struggling to move the ball so Yeoman told the Tackle, "you can't block him anyway so just get out of the way!"

The unblocked Defensive Lineman had no idea what to do and ran upfield right out of the play.

Just like that, the Split Back Veer Triple Option was formed and it took the football world by storm.

The fundamental principles Bill Yeoman's Option Offense continue to impact offensive strategy at all levels of football 60 years later.

@XCoachLear That's disgusting! Is there an open division? I'd be willing to load up my preseason schedule with great teams cuz league play hurts teams like Highland. It helps the poo poo teams which I don't understand. Why help teams, make them earn it. Do I have it understood correctly?
