Today, Belgian police blocked me — a sitting Member of the European Parliament — from entering the European Parliament for nearly an hour.

They were on the phone with Brussels Mayor Philippe Close, who was personally directing their actions. We have video footage of the incident.

The Mayor prevented me from delivering over half a million European citizens’ signatures for the @SaveEuropeAct initiative.

This is unacceptable.

The EU is a union of 27 member states. No single country — and certainly not one socialist mayor of a single city — has the right to decide which MEPs from other nations can carry out their democratic duties.

My team and I will launch a formal investigation into the mayor’s conduct.

🚨 UK Police Harass a Man in the Street: “It’s Been Reported That You Keep Trying to Speak to People.”

Two police officers approach a man on a public street and immediately begin questioning him.

Officer: “It’s been reported that you keep trying to speak to people.”

The man replies reasonably: “I did make a report myself that a couple of lads were acting dodgy around here.”

Police: “We’re not here for that.”

The officers then press him further:

Officer: “You’ve been heard saying to some, ‘If you come here you should speak English.’”

The man clarifies calmly: “I was trying to have a chat with someone and they said ‘no English,’ so I said maybe it’s a good idea before you come to England if you would learn English.”

Officer’s response: “That could be taken as a racist comment.”

This is a complete waste of police time.

A man tries to engage in conversation, reports suspicious behaviour himself, and makes the entirely sensible observation that people moving to England might benefit from learning the language.

For this, he is stopped, questioned, and implicitly threatened with accusations of racism.

There is nothing racist about expecting people who choose to live in Britain to make a basic effort to speak English. It’s common sense. It’s basic integration. Yet in modern Britain, stating this obvious truth out loud can now get you hassled by the police.

Meanwhile, genuine issues, antisocial behaviour, grooming gangs, knife crime, and actual public disorder continue to plague communities while officers waste time on this.

This is not policing. This is harassment. British people are increasingly fed up with a two-tier system that polices speech while failing to protect the public.
