My heart is so heavy with this news. Countless LGBTQ persons no doubt suffer the same fate across the world without us hearing their stories.

We can't forget that LGBTQ people are still living amidst state-sanctioned homophobia and institutional blindness to homophobic murder.

I have struggled to find a good alternative to "queer", which sits uncomfortably (in light of historical use).

I really like #GSM (Gender and Sexuality Minorities) - it does all the things I like about "queer". I am going to try and shift my vocabulary.
