@markstkhlm @colnoc77 Great article, thanks for sharing Mark. Parents worry about falling behind and then amplify ideas like my child is too good or she's not good enough. "It's not about fun, it's about improving." Adults can't see the benefits of mixed ability grouping and I feel that's part of it.

@JvanderB78 I agree that we should celebrate effort, teamwork and growth. Focus on learning and making each other better. Yet the selection process/ model. Some would argue that it does that, it's advantageous. Others might say it doesn't and comes with many disadvantages. What do you say?

@JvanderB78 Jorg, how do you work around or with selections and player grouping? It's common to group by ability, isn't that what selection is? Some would say it's necessary. I hear those in favor of postponing selections to late adolescence, but do they mean not keeping teams mixed?

@JvanderB78 You read studies on how early success is not an indicator of later success. Kearney's study on track and field (2019) for example. Makes you wonder does grouping by ability really optimize development? People tend to think so don't they?

However after watching that short video it looked and sounded like he had more of a coach led traditional approach. I'll have to read the AT paper before making any conclusions.
