Not only did solar keep ACs humming during this month's heatwave, they saved consumers money too.
In New England alone, ratepayers saved $130 million thanks to distributed solar.

Last week, temperatures soared to record highs across the Northeast, as New Yorkers across the state grappled with extreme heat. Central Park saw a high of 100 degrees, a daily temperature not seen since 1966.
️When temperatures are high and the grid is at capacity, New Yorkers can rely on renewables, like solar and South Fork Wind to:
➡️ Deliver reliable energy during high-demand times of the day
💲Bring costs down
🌬️Keep the cool air flowing when we need it the most
NYSERDA is here to help programs like NY-Sun and Statewide Solar for All provide much-needed relief for customers to save on their energy bills and make the switch to an affordable and reliable energy source.

EVs are the marquee climate subsidy. They also have one of the lowest returns per dollar spent.
New MVPF analysis: wind production tax credits deliver $5.87 in social benefit per $1 spent. Residential solar: $3.86. EV subsidies: $1.45.

There are GWs of storage and DERs across PJM that will go unused during this heat wave because neither PJM nor their state have policies/programs that allow them to help the grid. We must break down the arcane barriers that drive up energy costs by constricting supply.
These GWs exist today and can be immensely beneficial to the grid. And even better, they continue to grow every single day. The potential of DERs cannot be overlooked!
Exelon owned generation in a non-utility subsidiary until a few years ago—they sold it. They could invest in generation at shareholder risk right now. Instead, they lobby to invest at ratepayer risk. It would be a bad deal for ratepayers.
It is great to see the CBES program using home batteries to avoid outages! This is an increasingly powerful tool for @lumaenergypr.
Thanks to PREB and LUMA, CBES will soon have 2x more capacity (110+ MW for 4 hrs), making it even more effective at avoiding outages this summer.

The Solar Cost Reduction Act is a commonsense, broadly-supported bill that will reduce red tape and project costs, provide a better experience for consumers, and reduce the burden on municipalities.
Thank you @bridget4ri and Rep. Boylan for leading on this issue!
On Thursday, Senator @bridget4ri joined the Ocean State Climate Alliance and other lawmakers for a State House event in support of the Solar Cost Reduction Act.

#PuertoRico now gets 20% of its entire #energy capacity from rooftop #solar surpassing natural gas and becoming the island's second-largest energy source! 🇵🇷

The Cheshire community stands with the student and his family. The family is here legally and he has done nothing wrong. They are a part of our community and deserve our support and compassion during this difficult time.
ICE must release him immediately. This is just wrong.
A Cheshire High School student — the son of an Afghan translator who risked his life serving alongside U.S. forces — has been detained by ICE. Today I stood with @SenBlumenthal and advocates in Hartford to make clear:
This is wrong, and Connecticut will not stay silent.
Crystal clear explainer from Nate Bell on how Entergy, thanks to Sen. Dismang, was allowed to screw solar power users and all ratepayers to profitable tune of $100 million or more a year. https://t.co/krdr4MBx3I
The MN PUC’s approval of Xcel’s Capacity Connect recognizes the value of distributed solar & storage, but the program’s closed, utility‑owned model eliminates competition & shifts risk to customers. CCSA joined

No one should believe a word of this without actual evidence. We know there is a massive PR push to calm nerves of regulators and the public (which this is a part of), but far less evidence of concrete arrangements that actually avoid rate impacts for everyone else.
Huge win for Louisiana:
A historic agreement between @Entergy and @Meta will deliver approximately $2 BILLION in customer savings!
Delivering on President Trump’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge—Meta is funding new energy infrastructure to power AI in Louisiana.
