Come on now. That headline is leaving out some pretty important context. Abdul opposed Michigan’s old HIV-specific criminalization law because he believed it was outdated and stigmatizing. Michigan later changed the law to focus felony penalties on intentionally transmitting HIV or actually transmitting it. He supports that framework. That is NOT the same as saying people should be able to knowingly infect someone with HIV without consequences.

One thing I will never tolerate is discrimination against a group of people simply because of the faith they practice.

You don’t have to share someone’s beliefs to respect their right to have them. Religious freedom means nothing if it only applies to the faiths we agree with.
