4/💌 I chose the 10 letters the President read on February 4, 2016. I can still remember what most were about. A Muslim college student in Indiana... A pregnant mom worried about Zika virus... A young guy from a small town trying to figure life out... I hope the writers are well.
During President Obama's final year in office, the Director of Correspondence let staff take turns picking the 10 letters for a day. This was an honor and a challenge. The Director was tasked with giving the President a representative sample of the American people. 1/💌
As President, I would read 10 letters a day sent to me by ordinary Americans. At the Obama Presidential Center, we’ll have some of the letters I read — and responded to — every night. I still get emotional reading them, and it’s one of my favorite exhibits.
3/💌 The letters spanned the political spectrum and the emotional spectrum. They were chosen with care for the writers and with wonder for how the President would respond. The rest of the office and select White House staff got to read them. I wish everyone could read them.
Hey @SenatorCirino why did you charge The Rooster with "harassment"? For texts you didn't like? For questions you didn't like? For press you didn't like? #FreeTheRooster
I have grown a new respect for Senator Niraj Antani (R-Sewer) — as DJ labeled him. Thank you Senator Antani for showing true patriotism by defending your critic’s free speech, however crude it may sometimes be. #FreeTheRooster

No one has been attacked by the Rooster more than me. But this is wrong.
Freedom of speech in Ohio. Rest in peace. 1803-2026.

The City of Stow was selected as a finalist for the National Civic League’s All-America City Awards #AAC2026 because of our local innovation, civic engagement, and cross-sector collaboration. #CelebrateStow#StowOhio https://t.co/W3hzvkXJB0
As I said, Stow could finally allow a walkable downtown to grow organically if we remove barriers in our zoning code. #StowOhio#CelebrateStow https://t.co/DlPsZIzXXc
The Trump-Netanyahu war is not just about Iran.

NO MORE U.S. MILITARY AID TO NETANYAHU.
OHIOANS
🚨🧵 Hmmm… yet another reason the GOP-led Ohio legislature should kill HB 292 (and HB 188) immediately.
Both bills funnel state-backed public money into Israeli-linked “defense,” surveillance, biotech, and dual-use civil-military projects.
HB 292 creates a brand-new Ohio Defense Fund that automatically diverts interest earned on Ohio’s Israel bonds… public investment income that currently flows into the General Fund for schools, libraries, and core services… straight into grants for private defense and aerospace contractors.
This is an unprecedented earmark with weak transparency and oversight, practically begging for vendor capture and cronyism.
It locks Ohio’s economic priorities into a foreign government currently at war with its neighbors.
Why would Ohio sending another dollar to this arrangement?
Worse, the new Ohio Defense Commission is a hybrid public-private board stacked with insiders:
• Non-voting seats for JobsOhio and the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
• Business-aligned appointees who, by design, give private-sector voices more sway over public dollars than the six elected legislators on the board.
• All members appointed by the Senate President and House Speaker… except one by the Governor.
• 2–4 year terms; members can only be removed by the legislative leader who appointed them (bypassing the Governor).
This is an atypical power structure that shields insiders from accountability.
Public money. Private profits. Minimal accountability. Foreign entanglement.
Ohio taxpayers and families deserve better. Our state budget should serve Ohio first… not underwrite foreign defense interests or hand blank checks to well-connected contractors.

📞 STEP 2: CALL SCRIPT (SHORT + EFFECTIVE)
Script Option 1 – General Opposition
Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a [student/voter/community member] from [City].
I’m calling to express my strong opposition to HB 292.
HB 292 would divert around $10 million a year from the state Treasury to create a new Defense and Space Commission. This duplicates work already being done by existing agencies like JobsOhio and creates unnecessary bureaucracy.
We should be investing that money in things like healthcare, education, and community programs that directly benefit Ohioans.
Please let me know where the Senator stands on HB 292.
Thank you.
Script Option 2 – Focus on Israel Bonds / Funding Mechanism
Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a constituent from [City].
I’m calling to oppose HB 292 because of how it is funded.
This bill relies on interest from the state’s investments in Israel bonds, which are risky, illiquid, and have been downgraded by major credit agencies. This creates pressure to continue or increase those investments, even if they are not in Ohio’s best financial interest.
It also shifts control of funding away from the legislature and toward the Treasurer, which undermines accountability.
Will the Senator commit to opposing HB 292?
Thank you
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
