@SpursCulture Knick fans are perhaps the most obnoxious and sensitive fan base I've come across online. OKC fans were defensive about flopping, but they typically respected the Spurs talent, and recognized it would be rivalry for a decade.
@BGeltzNBA Harper was -17 +/- in the second half. Fox was bad offensively, but game felt more under control.
More blame needs to go to Champagnie that was a turnstile for Brunson in the 4Q. And was a huge liability at the end of the game.
@JMcDonald_SAEN@John3Cee Do you happen to know the +/- of Harper when he shared floor with Wemby, Fox, or Castle?
The player that looked the worst in the second half was Champagnie who really struggled when he got switched onto Brunson.
He gets a lot of weird hate. Especially for a guy that wants to be in San Antonio. And, he’s sacrificed scoring and stats to play the role the coach wants.
His max deal ends right before Harper gets his extension. So money complaints don’t make sense.
Healthy Fix + year 2 Harper could be crazy next year.
@TheKnicksRecap Playing normal for the spurs means winning. They won over 90% of their games since February when Wemby has been on the court.
Playing normal = domination in the mind of Wemby.
Overthinking his comments. When Spurs play their style of basketball. They feel they're the best team.
@JMcDonald_SAEN Hey Jeff, reading a lot about Wemby looking and playing tired. You're there. Do you see it? Are there signs of fatigue at practice, walkthroughs etc? Anything noteworthy? Or, is it just Wemby playing more minutes than he is used too?
With how the salary cap keeps growing, inflation etc. his contract might technically be a max deal now, but will seem less awful in a few years.
Derrick White would require max deal money.
Contracts are pretty insane these days. Vassell contract is large. Keldon “cheap” at 20M+/yr
@AaronTerrill@JoshEberley He couldn’t shoot to save his life in College. There were a lot of question marks. He moved up boards, but was by no means a sure thing. A lot of boards had both Kentucky guards ahead of him etc.
@TheSeigeDFS Having a smart point guard talk basketball over an idiot like Perkins improves the broadcast. Shocking stuff.
The people with loudest voices on espn for past decade have been the most ignorant.
@BlocksanyamaTM They did same thing after game 1 vs. Wolves and game 3 vs. OKC.
Nobody expected them to be here. So they’ve been waiting for them to fall apart entirely playoffs.
Playing bad? Meh. His role just is different. He puts up his Sacramento numbers whenever Wemby is out, and he’s forced into a bigger role.
He’s sacrificing so other players can grow into superstars. The team can afford his contract to let him steer young team in right direction.
@carterjwm@esidery He was clutch player of the year not too long ago.
And, coach wanted a veteran presence at end of the game.
But, I agree. Fox isn’t the same player when injured. Harper is not “normal” rookie. They should have been on court together at the least.
