Assistant Professor at Tennessee Tech University. Organic chemist, trailrunner, DnD, and spending too much time aligning conditions over rxn arrows. he/him
Happy to share that my NSF LEAPS proposal, titled "A Sustainable Chemistry Approach in Pursuit of Novel Methodologies, Organocatalysts, and Antimicrobials" has been recently approved for funding. I am excited to do some interesting science with great students!
@ndchiappini I've always been a huge fan of Master Organic Chemistry's approach of using a cat. I feel like it helps make the mental gymnastics a little easier: https://t.co/AuCwwnyn9P
As the semester comes to a close I just want to give a major shoutout to all of the students who periodically nod while their professor is lecturing.
Those students don’t realize how important their periodic head nods are.
Three professors at Tech have been awarded prestigious grants from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund to further their research projects and give their students more opportunities for hands-on experience in the field.

Happy to share that I've received a grant through the Rural Reimagined program at Tennessee Tech to start work on developing sustainable compounds, and methods, for the degradation of ester-based #microplastics found along the Tennessee River!
@ndchiappini@guanqichem This is my problem too, I became aware of the "new" trends teaching orgo 1 for the first time, but struggle to condense in a way that's doesn't just make it confusing, and not just default to polar protic trends like I was taught
Eager to share that my ACS PRF UNI proposal (@acsprf) was approved for funding (pending approval by the ACS Board of Directors)! It's my first external grant as a PI, which feels great! Excited to share the work that the Murphy Lab does on synthesizing porphyrin-like macrocycles!
