My Green Card application was denied.
Coming off the high of getting my O1, I started this year intending to secure an EB2 NIW. Optimism was high and I was being told it was straightforward.
Fast-forward to this month; after putting all my efforts into a response to a 14-page RFE, I received the denial I eventually came to expect.
I'm tired of unresponsive lawyers and I'm tired of USCIS's unpredictability, but there's nothing like a pending new year to reset.
The past is the past, but the future is what I decide it will be.
Today, I was in a crash as another driver reversed at speed destroying the right side of my car.
The annoying thing is I’ve been expecting this to happen for a while. SF drivers are awful, I’ve been dodging accidents for over two years.
Bring on the Waymos!
Today, I've been hiding in the library to avoid the heat. I should have come here sooner, remote working this week was brutal.
I didn't have air-con on my list of office perks, but I do now.
Tonight, at @Ozumo_SF, we bumped into the makers of Chinola; a passion fruit liqueur. They bought us a couple of passion fruit cocktails and gave us some sample bottles.

Last night, while talking with friends, I’ve realised how far I’ve come.
From uni dropout and working as a bank teller to 12 years of tech experience building software applications at scale.
You don’t need to plan everything, just make sure your next step is up.
Ever since being remote, I have found this so important. Organising a plan, getting out of the house, and focusing solely on achieving that plan. Deep work is such a superpower. 🦸
I go without earphones, the background noise vs the quiet at home somehow helps me focus. 🤔
How to get 8 hours of work done in 4:
1. Find a cafe
2. Block off 4 hours
3. Turn airplane mode on
4. Earphones on: lo-fi or melodic piano
5. Cross off tasks as you complete them
6. Work in 50 min sprints w/ 10 min breaks
Deep work > Busy work.
It’s amazing how much deep work I can do in a loud crowded co-working space with uncomfortable chairs.
Especially compared to my quiet ergonomic home set up, with its fancy desk and accessories.
Just being around busy people keeps me busy.
How do you do deep work?
