Charley is at the Water Law Conference at the DoubleTree LA Hotel, joining Jennifer Pierre to speak with water attorneys about the State Water Project, Bay-Delta issues, and why they matter for Southern California.

The conversation focused on improving adaptive management and ensuring the water system can operate with the flexibility needed to keep supplies reliable and affordable.

Charley joked that he was there as the comic relief, but the discussion itself was anything but light. Conversations like this help connect policy, law, and operations so the water community can continue moving practical solutions forward.

Walnut Grove residents and visitors may have noticed that the bio-acoustic fish fence at the mouth of Georgiana Slough is up and running for its third year of operation. A 640-foot-long barrier of bubbles lit by flashing lights and containing pulses of underwater sound, unofficially known as the “disco fence”, is again proving successful at preventing a majority of juvenile salmon from leaving the Sacramento River and entering the interior Delta where they have a diminished chance of “Stayin’ Alive”.
