I don’t expect much from the world anymore. Most people don’t move with integrity, authenticity or perseverance. I’ve learned that lesson enough times to stop being surprised by it. That isn’t cynicism, it’s clarity.

But the pain is different when the disappointment comes from inside my circle. Those are the people I chose to believe in, the ones I trusted with proximity and faith. When they falter, it doesn’t just sting, it fractures something deeper. It’s not about unmet expectations; it’s about broken trust where safety once lived.

I can accept who the world is. What hurts is realizing that not everyone I let close was capable of honoring the space I gave them.
