Dr. Candida Rebello recently joined @brianhaldane on @talk1073 to discuss her new five-year, $3.7 million #NIH grant supporting research at Pennington Biomedical. Her upcoming study will explore sarcopenic obesity, a condition affecting nearly one-third of adults over 60 that combines low muscle mass with excess body fat.
“This condition is often overlooked,” Dr. Rebello shared. “People don’t realize they can have obesity and still suffer from low muscle quality and strength.”

Pennington Biomedical Research Center scientist Dr. Candida Rebello recently secured a $3.7 million, five-year grant from NIH’s National Institute on Aging to explore lifestyle-focused care strategies to reduce excess body fat and declining muscle mass in older adults with obesity, also known as sarcopenic obesity.
