Great afternoon ride today. The weather were absolutely perfect. Stopped at Granville Island for lunch and checked out some of the FIFA displays around the city.
To top it off, I got pulled over by my buddy from the Traffic Unit for paddling too fast in English Bay! 😂😎🫡

The Vancouver Canucks really pulled it together late against the Nashville Predators. Those last-minute wins always make the game a lot more exciting—nothing like a late goal to flip the momentum and steal it at the end. 🏒🔥

The Drugs, Gangs and Extortion Forum was a tremendous success today. Four former high-profile gang members shared their lived experiences, speaking candidly about the consequences of their involvement in the criminal lifestyle. Their stories resonated deeply with an audience that included lawmakers, parents, youth, and public servants. Within their powerful testimonies were clear lessons about choices, accountability, and the long-term impact of violence and crime.

We also heard from representatives at the civic, provincial, and federal levels, each outlining their respective approaches to policy and legislation. Despite differing perspectives and party lines, there was a shared and unmistakable message: public safety is the top priority. There was resounding agreement in the room that organized crime groups and local street thugs responsible for the extortions, will NOT take the community hostage. That the community will not live in a state of fear from threats, coercion or intimidation, and will confront this head on through cooperation with the authorities.

The common denominator throughout the forum was clear. Prevention is essential, and it begins with education, awareness, and early intervention. When communities come together with honest dialogue and a commitment to protecting youth, meaningful change becomes possible. The KidsPlay Foundation is grateful to Foundation for Path Forward and Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers for their support and partnership.
