The median rent of all apartments in NYC is $1,641. The City publishes the data every 3 years. Literally half of NYC renters pay less than $1,641 for their apartments.

Market rate rents are stupid high because rent control doesn't work. This isn't rocket science. We all know it doesn't work.

This is a decision you guys made. "We're going to crush the 20 year olds with sky high rents and make them subsidize the housing of people in their 70s."
