1.0 PREAMBLE
The Court of Governors, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), on behalf of the Lagos State University Governing Council, hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill the positions of College Secretary and Financial Controller.
2.0 THE INSTITUTION
The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), an integral part of Lagos State University, was established on 9th February 1999 with the institutional goal of producing medical doctors and other health professionals who are:
i. of acceptable national and international standards;
ii. of high quality and in sufficient numbers to meet the healthcare needs of Lagos State and Nigeria at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels;
iii. capable of playing various roles within the healthcare team and of motivating, educating, supervising, and leading other health workers in health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment;
iv. prepared for further academic and professional development, enabling them to serve effectively as specialists, educators in medical schools, or health management experts;
v. committed to upholding the tenets and ethics of their profession for the advancement of learning and the promotion of academic excellence.
Originally established as a single-faculty college offering only the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB;BS) programme, LASUCOM has evolved into a medical school of enviable repute—well-ranked both locally and internationally in terms of academic and non-teaching personnel, research output, accreditation status, infrastructure, and alumni achievements.

APPLICATION FOR STUDENTS HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION STILL ONGOING
The Lagos State University hereby reminds students that online application is still ongoing for students hostel allocations for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic session via the university website https://t.co/JKkGtMxdP9.
The online application portal, which is designed to ensure a fair and efficient allocation process, opened on Thursday, 5th September 2024, to allow new and returning students to apply and be allocated hostels on a first come first serve basis.
New students will, however, be able to apply only after they have been offered admission to enable them access from the quota reserved for them by the university.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Comrade Kappo Samuel Olawale, paid a visit to the Ounje Eko Market located within Lagos State University (LASU).
The visit was part of his supervisory role on behalf of the government, ensuring the smooth operation of the market, which is an initiative aimed at supporting students and the university community with affordable and accessible food items.
During his inspection, Comrade Kappo met with the team lead for Ounje Eko in LASU, Mr. Akinola Bola, who plays a critical role in overseeing the planning and execution of the initiative. He said “ the Lagos state government has provided all needed resources, all I did was to lead the team”.
He also met the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Fatai Abatan, who has been working tireless to ensure proper coordination.
He also met with the student representatives body led by comrade Haroun Tobun, who appreciated Mr governor in his speech saying “we thank Mr Governor, His excellency Babajide Olushola sanwo olu for bringing this initiative to LASU.
Together, we discussed the ongoing efforts to maintain the market’s efficiency and sustainability, addressing any challenges faced by the market operators.
Comrade Kappo also engaged with market vendors and students, assessing the quality of goods and services offered.
The visit emphasizes the government commitment to enhancing student and the people at large welfare by promoting initiatives like the Ounje Eko Market, which not only provides food security but also fosters entrepreneurship within the university environment.
He emphasized the importance of such markets in alleviating financial pressure on students and staffs including People within the community, ensuring that essential commodities are within reach.
Comrade Kappo also reaffirmed the state government dedication to the continuous improvement of student-related services and infrastructure in tertiary institutions across Lagos State.
