INEC Rejects Attempt to Deregister ADC and Other Political Parties

Haruna Ibrahim, a dedicated Nigerian Corps member from Batch A1 2025, serving under the Sport CDS in Jos, has been brutally killed in a heartbreaking and tragic incident.

He was reportedly attacked and burned to death in Anguwan Rukuba by some angry Christians in the area, following an earlier attack on their community by unidentified gunmen.

What makes this loss even more painful is that today, Tuesday, was meant to be his Passing Out Parade (POP), a day that should have marked the successful completion of his national service and the beginning of a new chapter in his life.

Instead, his life was cut short in the most horrific way.

Our hearts are heavy, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones in this moment of deep sorrow.

May God grant them the strength and patience to bear this painful loss. 🙏

BREAKING: ADC leaders ask INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan to resign, saying the chairman and commissioners have taken sides with the ruling APC, and can't be trusted to conduct the 2027 general elections.

They also announced that the ADC will proceed with its programmes, citing no law making INEC’s attendance mandatory. The opposition leaders also called on the international community to take note of INEC’s actions on April 1st and the restraint they are exercising today.

They finally called on Nigerians to defend democracy and resist any attempt to impose a one-party state on the country.

This afternoon, I received the Enugu Polling Booths Vanguard for Atiku, a group chiefly concerned with the sanctity of the ballots, led by Chief Obodoeze Ocho. They believe that every vote must count in 2027. I fully agree with them that protecting votes at the Polling Units level is vital for the coming elections. I told them that, for us to have credible elections that earn voters' trust, citizens must take the responsibility of safeguarding votes seriously.
