‘The Arabs in old times used to say. Four things separate brothers: wealth, women, jealousy, and death. Four things make you lose your value among people: talking too much, laughing too much, lying and gossiping. Four things by which a wife ruins her home: stubbornness, anger, suspicion, and raising her voice. Four things by which a man ruins his home: distance, neglect, harshness, and stinginess.’

FACT CHECK ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅
🇳🇬2014: THE YEAR NIGERIA NEARLY BROKE
If you think insecurity today is bad, let me take you back to 2014. That year, Nigeria recorded 7,512 terrorism-related deaths the highest in the nation's history. Between 2013 and 2014 alone, terrorism deaths increased by over 300%. That is not a spike. That is an explosion.
Boko Haram captured approximately 25 towns across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states. At least 10 towns in Borno, 10 in Yobe, and 5 in Adamawa fell under their control. Their leader, Abubakar Shekau, declared the captured town of Gwoza an "Islamic State." The Nigerian flag stopped flying over entire local government areas.
The violence did not stay in the Northeast. Abuja bled. A bombing at a bus station in April killed at least 75 people. A car bomb in May killed at least 15. A bomb at a crowded shopping district during rush hour in June killed at least 21. People watching the World Cup were blown up. The capital was not spared.
Human Rights Watch documented a "dramatic increase" in bomb blasts, including suicide attacks in crowded marketplaces and civilian locations. It was not just war it was calculated terror designed to break the spirit of ordinary Nigerians.
Here is what the numbers do not tell you: 7,512 deaths is the figure for total fatalities (including combatants). Later Nigerian sources sometimes cite 2,101 civilian deaths. Both are horrific. Both represent families shattered, futures erased.
Why does this matter? Because we tend to romanticize the past. "Things were better before." No, they were not. 2014 was brutal. The military has taken back territory. Boko Haram no longer holds 20 LGAs. But the enemy adapted. ISWAP emerged. Banditry exploded. Kidnapping became an industry.
Knowing our history is not about despair, it is about perspective. We survived 2014. We can survive 2026. But only if we remember what we are fighting against, and what we have already overcome.
Share this. Let people know: Nigeria has been here before. And Nigeria is still standing.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI CRUSH ISWAP ASSAULT ON BUNI GARI, NEUTRALISE NO FEWER THAN 50 TERRORISTS, RECOVER LARGE CACHE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have once again demonstrated overwhelming combat superiority, decisively crushing a large-scale, coordinated attack by ISWAP terrorists on Headquarters 27 Brigade at Buni Gari and the Buni Gari Checkpoint in the early hours of Thursday, 8 May 2026. The assault, launched at approximately 0200 hours under the cover of darkness by a large number of terrorists from multiple axes, was met with devastating firepower, tactical brilliance and resolute determination by troops who held their ground and inflicted catastrophic losses on the attackers. No fewer than 50 terrorists were neutralised, while a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the fleeing remnants.
The terrorists initially launched their assault from the western flank before pushing additional forces from the southern flank along the Ganinga Junction axis and later from the south-western flank in a desperate attempt to encircle own troops. However, troops held their ground with exceptional discipline and tactical composure, employing indirect fires to attrit the enemy while executing an offensive-defensive battle that systematically degraded and dismantled the assault from all axes. The terrorists were met with such devastating resistance that they retreated in confusion, evacuating some of their killed and wounded as evidenced by trails of blood along their escape routes. At no point was any part of the camp breached, as the integrity of the location remained fully intact throughout the engagement. Exploitation of the general area confirmed the recovery of 10 terrorist corpses within the immediate vicinity, while human intelligence reports indicate that over 20 additional bodies were scattered across bushes around Gashua, Azare, and Kamuya along the terrorists' withdrawal routes.
The Air Component Command of OPHK played a decisive and complementary role in the engagement, providing persistent Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) coverage that enabled real-time situational awareness and accurate target acquisition. In a synchronised air–land operation, precision air interdiction strikes were conducted on confirmed terrorist positions and fleeing elements, accounting for an additional 20 terrorists neutralised as aircrafts pursued retreating insurgents along their escape corridors. Subsequent human intelligence confirmed scores of additional dead bodies along the withdrawal routes, further underscoring the magnitude of the defeat inflicted on the terrorists.
Items recovered from the engagement include 8 x AK-47 rifles, 2 x General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), 2 x Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, 5 x RPG bombs, 3 x RPG chargers, 2 x boxes of 7.62mm ammunition, 2 x fully loaded magazines, 9 x bandoliers of 7.62mm ammunition, and 3 x Improvised Explosive Device (IED) canisters. The volume and variety of weapons and ordnance recovered further expose the scale of the terrorists' offensive intent and the totality of their failure.
Troops, in conjunction with volunteer forces, are currently conducting aggressive exploitation operations across the general area to consolidate gains, track fleeing terrorists, and deny any attempt at regrouping. Some equipment, including Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles and Gun-Trucks, sustained minimal damage during the engagement. All wounded personnel are stable and receiving appropriate medical attention.
Regrettably, 2 gallant soldiers paid the supreme price in the course of the engagement. Their sacrifice embodies the highest traditions of service, courage, and unwavering commitment to the defence of the nation. Operation HADIN KAI honours their heroism and the bravery of all personnel who stood firm in the face of a determined but ultimately futile enemy assault. These failed attacks further underscore the growing desperation of terrorist elements who continue to suffer devastating losses under sustained operational pressure. OPHK remains resolute and battle-ready, maintaining operational dominance across the Theatre and ensuring that terrorists are denied freedom of action in any part of the North East region.

🇳🇬🪖MORE THAN A UNIFORM: THE NIGERIAN ARMY ENGINEERS
I saw something remarkable in a small village in the South-East during an operation. A unit of Army Engineers wasn't carrying rifles; they were carrying bags of cement and iron rods. They were repairing a bridge that had collapsed during the recent rains, cutting off the village from the local clinic.
One elder said: "We used to fear the boots; now we bless them." This is the "Hearts and Minds" campaign in action. Security isn't just about stopping bullets; it’s about building bridges literally and figuratively.
To God be all the glory! 🏆
I'm excited to share that I emerged as Nigeria's 2026 JAMB Highest Scorer with an aggregate score of 372/400!

Colonel Mohammed Ma'aji served in the Niger Delta when militancy was at its peak 🔥👀🙆👇
It was while serving there that he became close to Timipre Sylva who was the governor of Bayelsa state at the time.
Ma'aji coordinated security for Sylva in his failed bid for a second term as governor of Bayelsa state in 2015.
Timipre Sylva was minister of petroleum (state) under late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Just like almost all members of that cabinet (with the exception of Fashola, Keyamo and two or three), he was against Tinubu's aspiration which was his (Sylva's) right anyways.
In the morning of Oct 1, 2025, the presidential villa was to be invaded.
The coup plotters had gathered some vital information on the site through one of the indicted civilians, Zekeri Umoru, an electrician at the villa.
President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, Senate President Akpabio, House of Reps Speaker Abass, the then Chief of Defence Staff Musa and other service chiefs were to be eliminated but government got wind of the plan before the D Day and some arrests were made
The government and the military denied a report of the coup at that time and that, in my opinion was the right thing to do at the time.
Operational vehicles have been acquired to be deployed for the purpose.
Due to the fact that some of the plotters are civilians, an Abuja federal high court is hearing the case while a military court is hearing that of those who are soldiers among them.
A Zaria based cleric, Sani Abdulkadir is answering questions on his involvement but the man said that he was paid for spiritual purpose by the plotters while a Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi is also on the list. He was to be the propagandist for the coupist billed to use his media links to influence public opinion on the side of the coupists.
Zekeri Umoru has told the court that Ma'aji told him about his grievance with the Tinubu government and then started giving him money and holding meetings with him. He said that he also used his influence to allow him gain access to the presidential villa where Ma'aji took some pictures of the place even though, he objected to it but he argued that he did not know that there was a coup plot and pleaded for mercy.
A few months ago, family members of these coupists gathered with Sowore where Sowore made it clear that while he campaigns for civilian revolution, he never want a military coup but that the trial should be transparent.
Sylva, the principal financier of the coup who was an APC member and oil minister and former governor has been on the run since the news of the failed coup broke.
His close allies say that he is out of the country on medical ground.

TROOPS SUSTAIN OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS, NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, ARREST SUSPECTS, RECORD SURRENDER IN NORTH EAST
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have sustained offensive operations across the Theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V, recording significant successes in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, including the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of suspects, and surrender of a terrorist member.
In a successful operation conducted in conjunction with members of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), troops of OPHK engaged terrorists moving from Yale towards the Sambisa Forest axis. During the encounter, four terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle with ammunition, as well as food items suspected to be part of terrorist logistics supply. The troops returned safely to base with no casualties.
Similarly, sustained aggressive operations conducted by multiple units across key routes including Dambboa–Maiduguri, Dambboa–Gwoza, Goniri axis, and other likely infiltration corridors successfully denied terrorists freedom of movement and actions.
In a related development, troops of OPHK deployed at Kanama arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators during a stop-and-search operation. The suspects were found in possession of items and materials, including clothing and personal effects, suspected to be linked to terrorist logistics support. Preliminary investigations also revealed incriminating digital materials suggesting possible affiliation with terrorist elements. The suspects are currently in custody for further investigation.
Furthermore, troops of OPHK recorded the surrender of one suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member at a checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area. The individual, who claimed to have been abducted earlier in the year and coerced into joining the terrorists group, is currently undergoing profiling and further investigation.
The Theatre Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability in the North East region .The Command urges citizens to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies in the security and economic interest of the North East region. The Military High Command commends the troops for their gallantry and resilience while urging them to sustain the operational tempo.

PAINFUL & SAD MEMORIES
Killed by "bandits" ...some of whom are now labelled "repentant" and rehabilitated by the "Operation Safe Corridor" rehabilitation program.
But they're gone forever... leaving families and loved ones behind.
Keep resting in peace gallant officers. Adieu compatriots. So long defenders of our territories and protectors of our lives. You died that Nigerians may live. Goodbye, heroes!!!
🇳🇬🪂🌊 NIGERIAN MILITARY COURSE TAGS: “BIRD IN FLIGHT” & “CROCODILE” (WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN)
If you’ve ever seen a Nigerian soldier and noticed a small tag on the uniform that shows BIRD IN FLIGHT or CROCODILE, just know one thing…
That tag is not for fashion.
It’s not for branding.
It’s not for “soft life.”
That small tag is military language for:
“I’ve been trained for serious terrain. Don’t try me.” 😮💨🔥
🐦 BIRD IN FLIGHT (AIRBORNE QUALIFICATION)
The Bird in Flight tag is worn by soldiers who have completed Airborne training.
Meaning they are trained and qualified for parachute operations , yes, jumping from aircraft like it’s a normal Tuesday.
This course involves:
intense physical training
parachute drills
landing techniques
airborne assault tactics
survival and combat readiness
So when you see “BIRD IN FLIGHT” on a soldier’s uniform, it simply means:
🐦 “I can enter the battlefield from the sky.”
No road needed. No shortcut needed.
Just sky, wind, and mission.
🐊 CROCODILE (AMPHIBIOUS QUALIFICATION)
Now the Crocodile tag is for soldiers trained for amphibious and riverine warfare, meaning operations in water environments like:
🌊 rivers
🌿 creeks
🏝️ coastal areas
🛶 swamps
This course is highly relevant in Nigeria, especially in areas like the Niger Delta where the battlefield is not always land.
Training includes:
swimming survival drills
water endurance training
boat operations and navigation
river crossing under pressure
waterborne tactical insertion
So when you see “CROCODILE” on a soldier’s uniform, it means:
🐊 “If you hide inside water, you’ve entered my office.” 😭🔥
🎖️ WHY THESE TAGS ARE RESPECTED
Because nobody gets them by mouth.
You earn them through:
💪 suffering
🧠 discipline
🔥 endurance
🏃 serious training
These tags are not “nice design.”
They are proof of capability.
🇳🇬 FINAL WORD
So next time you see a Nigerian soldier wearing BIRD IN FLIGHT or CROCODILE, understand the message:
One is trained to strike from the air.
The other is trained to dominate water terrain.

I was sexually assaulted in a bus on the 17th April 2026 going to the market by a police man off duty seated next to me, he kept touching my breast and I defended my self by slapping him and this man denied it a good thing I recorded the incident.
At first I thought it was a mistake then I realized it wasn’t on alerting my friend of the situation this man bunched her on her face and kept fighting us.
Most of the men there were not even helping, they kept making fun of the situation, saying ohh I’m a fine girl and he likes me that is why as if that is supposed to be funny, anyways I’m not letting this one go it took me years to tell my self that I didn’t deserve to be raped it took me sleepless nights and constant reminders for another man to come and remind me of my struggle and think he can just walk free. I’m going to make sure I’m his last prey.

🇳🇬🪖NIGERIA SF SOLDIER NARRATES HIS EXPERIENCE IN HOSTAGE RESCUE OPERATION IN MAIDUGURI
The call came just before dawn—the kind of silence that feels heavier than gunfire. In Maiduguri, the air always carried tension, but that morning it felt different… like the city itself was holding its breath.
We had intel: a high-value insurgent cell had moved into a cluster of abandoned buildings on the outskirts. Fast, coordinated, and ruthless that was their reputation. But so were we.
As special forces under the Nigerian Army, hesitation wasn’t in our training. We moved in before sunrise, a small tactical unit slicing through the darkness with precision. No noise. No wasted motion. Just purpose.
I remember tightening my grip on my rifle, feeling the weight of responsibility more than the weapon itself. Every step forward wasn’t just for the mission it was for the people sleeping in fear just a few kilometers away.
We breached the perimeter swiftly.
The first contact came sharp and sudden gunfire ripping through the quiet like thunder. But we were ready. Years of training kicked in like instinct. We flanked, communicated in signals, and suppressed their fire before they could regroup.
At one point, I found myself pinned behind a broken wall, bullets chipping away at the concrete inches from my face. My heartbeat was loud but my mind was calm. That’s what courage really is… not the absence of fear, but control in the middle of it.
I signaled my teammate. In seconds, we executed a coordinated push smoke deployed, angles covered, movement synchronized. We closed in.
Room by room, we cleared the structure. The insurgents were desperate, but disorganized. They didn’t expect speed. They didn’t expect discipline. And they definitely didn’t expect us to hit that hard, that fast.
When it was over, the silence returned… but this time, it felt earned.
We secured the area, rescued two civilians they had been holding, and gathered critical intelligence that would prevent future attacks. No unnecessary losses. Mission accomplished.
As the sun finally rose over Maiduguri, casting light over the dust and ruins, I stood there tired, covered in sweat and grit but proud. Not just of what we did, but of who we are.
Because bravery isn’t about being fearless. It’s about standing your ground when it matters most. It’s about moving forward when others would retreat.
And that day, in the heart of Maiduguri, we didn’t just fight…
We protected hopes.
God bless the still breathing 🫡
