Good Afternoon Dear Followers,
IRRIGATION
It’s hard to believe Summer is over, but don’t let the September heat fool you when it comes to your garden. The season’s hot, dry winds frequently causes people to increase their irrigation cycles...
What does that mean for your irrigation schedule?
September is the time to start reducing irrigation levels to about 30% less than you did in August.
For a more effective irrigation schedule, we recommend multiple watering cycles of shorter periods to allow water to soak in...
Good Morning Dear Followers!
LAWN SEEDING/RESEEDING
Is September a good time for seeding?
September is typically the best month to sow new grass seed and fertilizer.
September conditions are perfect; warm soils, bright sunshine and cooler nights to establish a new lawn...
The key to success is the seed’s contact with the soil.
- Grass seed germination can take anywhere from two to four weeks, depending on the type of grass and how well it has been watered.
- The soil should also be kept moist, but not soggy, so that the seeds can germinate.
Summer heat may still be here, but with October being around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about Fall landscaping tasks... One of these activities is LANDSCAPE CLEAN UP!!!
Weeds and fallen leaves are the perfect home for insects and pests to hide during the winter.
* Check trees for weak branches and remove them before wind turn them into a hazard.
Do not prune trees and shrubs during Fall, pruning promotes new growth, which will not be strong enough to resist the harsh winter weather.
Fall is when slugs reproduce... So, apply slug pesticide now to help reduce next year’s growing season. Weeds tend to store up a lot of energy during the winter, so getting rid of them now will also help.
