It is an insanely bad, catastrophic PR nightmare. Perception is everything, and perception is built through tiny details. Every awkward sentence, every careless demo, every answer that shows how little you understand what people are actually afraid of.
The fact that weâre getting AI from guys who cannot tell a coherent story about it is a much bigger catastrophe than anyone realizes right now. You cannot tell humanity that youâre about to change everything and then act surprised when humanity wants a better explanation. When you leave a vacuum where meaning should be, fear fills it.
Storytelling forces you to answer a question that technical progress allows you to postpone: what is all of this actually for? If your only answer is âlook what it can do,â you havenât finished thinking.
Oh, I donât think Iâve ever felt the loss of Steve Jobs more deeply than I do now.
