Fish considered thermally tolerant can still be extremely vulnerable in early life.
We found that developmental temperatures of 33°C (regularly experienced in North Qld) resulted in severe spinal deformities and mortality in mosquitofish.

Time for your annual reminder that it’s Tasmanian devil dispersal season!
This means young devils out finding their way in the world are particularly vulnerable, & often drawn towards roads for easy passage & food. So watch your speed on Tassie roads this season (& always!)
A variety of species across the animal kingdom can reproduce both sexually and asexually, including some types of starfish, water fleas, hammerhead sharks and Komodo dragons. @jcu https://t.co/7s38j1rj3s
I wrote an article for @ConversationEDU about facultative sex, after I found out that many people outside of biology have never heard of the concept. I think it's such a neat ability that everyone should know about!

Still adjusting to the heat and humidity of North Queensland but a recent highlight was getting to see fireflies for the first time. Got a shot of one on my hand - such amazing creatures!
