When longtime ICU charge nurse Jennifer Coates Hewitt began experiencing vision problems at work, her colleagues quickly recognized the signs and activated a stroke alert. Within minutes, she received life-saving treatment for an ischemic stroke caused by a blocked artery in her brainstem.

As a recognized leader in stroke care, @EJHospital is equipped with specialized stroke protocols, rapid imaging, and expert neuro ICU teams to deliver timely, evidence-based treatment when every second counts.

Thanks to that coordinated care—along with a seamless transition through inpatient, home health, and outpatient rehabilitation—Jennifer is recovering and working toward her goal of returning to nursing. She also received outpatient therapy at Lakeview Hospital, where she worked to rebuild strength, mobility, and independence.
