Today 25 November marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that runs from November 25 (*International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women*) to December 10 (*Human Rights Day*).
The campaign aims to raise awareness and drive action to end violence against women and girls worldwide. This year’s international theme is *"UNITE! Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls,"* emphasizing the need for collective efforts to address this pervasive human rights violation

Gender-based violence affects 1 in 3 women globally, with alarming rates of physical, sexual, and digital violence. The campaign urges governments, organizations, and individuals to invest in prevention, support survivors, and challenge harmful norms. In Zimbabwe, we continue to Advocate for an end to GBV as it is so prevalent due to economic hardships in the country.
The Theme for this year in Zimbabwe is UNiTE End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls
It focuses on preventing online abuse and promoting digital safety.

The colour is Orange symbolising a brighter future free from Violence against Women and Girls.

The campaign urges collective action to address GBV, support survivors and also challenge harmful norms.

Digital violence in Zimbabwe is so prevalent. These are harmful behaviors facilitated through digital platforms. There is a lot of cyberbullying including body shaming, online harassment, Coordinated disinformation campaigns, gendered hate speech, and non-consensual sharing of intimate images. This type of violence disproportionately affects women and girls, particularly those in public roles such as activists, journalists, and politicians. We demand a Stop to Digital violence. It has real-world consequences, often silencing victims, causing emotional harm, and, in some cases, escalating to physical violence. The rise of social media, affordable smartphones, and influencer culture has exacerbated the issue, turning digital spaces into sites of harm alongside empowerment .

Efforts to address digital violence in Zimbabwe include legal frameworks such as the *Cybercrime Act of 2022* and the Data Protection Act, which criminalize the use of technology to perpetrate abuse.

We Demand an end to Cyber Bullying as we commemorate these 16 Days of Activism Against Gender based Violence.

Tsenengamu – Sande Announce Intentions to “Return” to ZANU PF

Kasukuwere’s 2023 Mt Darwin candidate, Godfrey Tsenengamu, together with his personal representative Jackie Sande, have announced their intentions to rejoin ZANU PF.

The claim of “returning” is misleading. Tsenengamu was deeply involved in Mashonaland Central violence between 2007 and 2015, during his time as a youth leader. That violence left many opposition supporters dead, maimed or displaced. At no point has he convincingly demonstrated that he ever left ZANU PF.

His occasional criticism of Mnangagwa and his failed attempt to form an opposition party cannot erase his history. Tsenengamu was a ZANU PF enforcer during violent campaigns and that reality remains unchanged.

Sande, on the other hand, can only be described as an opportunist. She hijacked Kasukuwere’s campaign, as his lawyer, elections agent and spokesperson arguably contributing to his failure to contest the 2023 elections. From day one, she has been aligned with ZANU PF and, like Tsenengamu, has never taken a meaningful stand against the ruling party or shown any real commitment to opposition politics. All along, they used every opportunity to attack the opposition, as if it were the one looting and mismanaging the country’s economy.

Kasukuwere himself, a former CIO boss, is hardly a trustworthy figure. His campaign team is composed of individuals who openly support global dictators and have been associated with threatening victims of abductions. Instead of mobilizing to fight for justice, such as calling for the release of his campaign team Chairman Walter Mzembi from jail, they are taking turns crawling back to ZANU PF.

The duo’s latest declaration is nothing more than an attempt to gain attention and public sympathy, while begging for re-admittance into ZANU PF. There is no need for panic. These are individuals whose popularity exists only on social media. They command no real influence, even in their own constituencies. Tsenengamu, in particular, has been rejected at the ballot box several times, both within ZANU PF primaries and in the wider constituency.

Their “return” is not a shock, it only confirms what many have always known: they never truly left.

Masvingo urban Ward 5: The Masvingo Progressive Women Citizens recently made a generous donation of plates and dishes to Ward 5 of Masvingo Urban. In a heartfelt ceremony captured on video by Wezhira Munya of Change Radio, Ward 3 Councillor Daniel Mberikunashe who was represented by councillor Mrs Makuni and ward 5 local community members received a total of 200 plates and 10 dishes. These utensils are intended for use during various community events, such as funerals, birthday parties, weddings, and other gatherings, promoting unity and support among residents. The plates and dishes were purchased through the collective contributions of the group, along with additional donations from community supporters. This thoughtful gesture is expected to greatly assist Ward 5 during times of need, ensuring that families have access to essential items for hosting important events. The donation reflects the commitment of the Masvingo Progressive Women Citizens to uplift and empower their community. By providing these resources, they are fostering a spirit of togetherness and resilience among the residents of Ward 5.

The Shutdown has Started, Police Confirmed Readiness: Let Wisdom Guide Us — 22 & 23 April 2025

Fellow citizens,

In times like these, wisdom often speaks more clearly in stillness than in noise. As many of you are aware, the Zimbabwe Republic Police have made it clear, they are deploying maximum force across towns, business centers, and public areas on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2025, and even beyond if the situation remains. While their message speaks of maintaining order, history has taught us how such deployments tend to unfold when ordinary citizens simply exercise their right to move, gather, or speak.

This is not a moment for unnecessary risk. No going to town, no going to work, no going out for shopping

Let us choose peace, not because we fear, but because we understand power. Let us choose stillness, not because we are weak, but because we are wise. Let our absence from the streets be our message. Let our quiet homes be louder than slogans. Let town remain as empty as the promises that brought us here.

To every parent, student, worker, vendor, stay home. If you can, avoid town. Cancel the trip. Postpone the errand. Nothing is worth the possibility of violence, intimidation, or humiliation at the hands of those police.

The authorities have already told us what they are ready to do. And sometimes, the best response is to give them exactly what they fear most, a nation too calm to crush, too quiet to control.

This is a moment to reflect, to pause and to show that unity doesn't always need a banner, sometimes, it just needs a closed door.

Let the streets speak for us.

Opposition Chaos: Tshabangu Rush to Mnangagwa’s Farm Amid Fears of Losing Control After Court Confirmed he is an Imposter

Today, at Mr Mnangagwa’s farm in Kwekwe, opposition Senator and self-proclaimed Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu was seen in the company of his lawyer, Senator Kucaca Phulu and PR MPs Otilia Sibanda and Nomahlahla Mlotshwa.

This comes in the wake of a court ruling barring Tshabangu from acting on behalf of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), effectively confirming his status as an imposter, a narrative the party has maintained since his emergence after the 2023 elections.

Sibanda also was installed as a MP representing Bulawayo in the Women's Quota, after the unjustified recall of Jasmine Toffa by Tshabangu.

Recently, Hon. Charles Moyo, who controversially became an MP for Mpopoma-Mzilikazi following the recall of the party’s preferred representative by Tshabangu, publicly claimed that the CCC was endorsing the _“2030 agenda_ that is aimed at allowing Mnangagwa to extend his term in office beyond 2028. This statement raised eyebrows, signaling with others saying it was panic over the imminent court judgment that declared Tshabangu an imposter.

The CCC Tshabangu faction spokesperson also revealed that these MPs intended to attend Mnangagwa’s farm visit, a move widely interpreted as a betrayal of the party’s struggle for democracy.

But who are these individuals, Sengezo Tshabangu, Phulu and Otilia? Their involvement in today’s events is not an isolated incident. These figures have a history of sowing discord within the opposition, dating back to the 2013 MDC splits wjich led to the formation of PDP.

Their actions consistently reveal opportunistic tendencies, prioritizing personal gain over the collective good. They have repeatedly undermined the democratic struggle, exploiting loopholes for their benefit at the expense of the people they claim to represent. President Nelson Chamisa remains the hope and torchbearer for the people of Zimbabwe. Zanu-PF continues to copy his manifestos and ideas because they recognize his vision for a prosperous nation. However, they miss the mark on policies and lack the trust of the citizens.
