I cannot recommend verse by verse ministry enough. Stephen Armstrong brings clear context, history, and cross references for every single verse in the bible. I started with Revelations but now am onto Matthew and the gospels. I thank God for this man and all the clarity he has provided in a world of arguing and bickering. No assumptions, no interpretations, just clear and concise biblical references, context, and history. If you are willing to make time for God/Christ, this will be highly rewarding and clear any confusion you have. God Bless.

The Comforter is sent in Jesus’ name and glorifies Jesus, Muhammad came 600 years later, denied Jesus is the Son of God, and denied the crucifixion (Quran 4:157). That’s the opposite of glorifying Jesus.
The Comforter is already with the disciples (“He dwells with you and will be in you” John 14:17). Muhammad wasn’t born yet.
The Holy Spirit came 10 days after Jesus ascended, at Pentecost (Acts 2), exactly as Jesus promised. No 600-year wait.
The word “Christian” is used in the scriptures by both Peter and Paul
“but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.”
1 Peter 4:16
“Agrippa replied to Paul, “In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian.””
Acts 26:28
No Scripture commands the Church to keep the 7th-day Sabbath after the cross.
Colossians 2:16-17
“Let no one judge you… regarding a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.”
Hebrews 4:9-10
“There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God… for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.”
The early church met on the first day (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 16:2).
We rest in Christ, not in a day. The shadow is fulfilled.
@1979eric1979@lynne_catmom@Eric_van_breene@EddieJamro84189 SDA traces back to William Miller’s failed 1843/1844 prediction of Christ’s return the “Great Disappointment”.
SDA, like the mormons, and JWs are built on false prophecy, get out of there brother.
Matthew recorded Jesus’ words accurately in Greek under the Holy Spirit’s inspiration. The distinction between Petros (Peter, a small stone) and petra (large rock/ bedrock) is intentional.
The church is built on the rock of Peter’s confession/faith “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God”, not on Peter himself.
Well actuallyyyyy
The apostles regularly gathered on the first day of the week in honor of the Resurrection (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor 16:2). John called it the Lord’s Day (Rev 1:10). The old Sabbath was for Israel under the Law, we’re under the New Covenant, free to honor Christ on the day He rose.
