〝 i know … i will. but it hurts , old lady … it hurts more than i thought it would. so just this once , cut me some slack〞

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

the wind howled through the barren trees , tugging at the edges of her cloak

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

another sigh. she had yet to visit that place , not once had her footsteps crossed the quiet path leading to that lonely stretch of earth

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

returning to the academy unscathed had been a promise—-one made in forced optimism. keeping it , however , had proven far more difficult than expected

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

why wouldn’t they？

their angel of death had returned. the ghost they had long since cast out , now standing before them once again

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

with curses. with disdain. with the kind of open arms that sought to break bones rather than embrace

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

right … there was that. the people , it seemed , had far too much enthusiasm to welcome her back

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

a shift in position … that sent a sharp sting through her limbs , drawing out a wince

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

once , that place had been home. not anymore

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

a sigh slipped past her lips as sharp eyes swept over the village below , its familiar rooftops and winding paths laid bare from such a height

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

perched atop a towering tree , a lone figure rested against the rough bark , the wind teasing through delicate feathers

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

﹙ i’ll be back soon！ if anyone would like to keep contact with me outside the academy , just leave a trace ﹚

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

〝 see you later , elementaire〞

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

perhaps this will change something. perhaps , against all odds , her village would welcome her back , arms open instead of being shooed away

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

she would come back—-hopefully without any new scars , but until then …

[⟡ @LCYBORNE02]

she has no home to claim as her own , no destination pulling her forward—-only the quiet , unshaken belief that this journey is necessary
