Find Grass Running Back Drill
Running Back Fundamentals & Drills in a Zone Offense
• The running back should press the line of scrimmage.
• Four players serve as the four offensive linemen in the drill.
• The running back's footwork should begin by pressing the heels of the offensive linemen.
• A GA makes a "move call" when the running back reaches the feet of the offensive linemen.
• After the move call, the running back must track, react, get into open space, and get back vertical.
• If all four defenders move to one side, the running back must gain ground while gradually moving laterally, then get back vertical.
• The running back should take it to the offensive linemen's feet, and the move call should be made late.
• The running back needs to stay tight to the offensive linemen, track and react, and hit vertical.
