We are proud to welcome Diarmaid Ó Conaráin @DiarmaidOCon to the National Party. Here is his excellent speech in Kilkenny presenting the Party's policies on energy and natural resources. Give it a watch.

RTÉ SELECTIVE COVERAGE OF SLAIN MAN'S VIGIL:
RTÉ's coverage of the vigil at the weekend of Alex Coughlan, who was killed in horrific circumstances, deliberately omitted mention of the organiser of the vigil, Councillor Patrick Quinlan. This contrasts with their coverage of gatherings organised by Left Wing politicians.
Councillor Quinlan gave us a statement:
"Yes, I organised the silent vigil for Alex Coughlan on Mill Road yesterday evening.
The event was peaceful and well-attended around 500 people came together quietly to remember Alex, lay flowers, and show solidarity with his family.
Regarding RTÉ’s reporting,
They covered the turnout and the vigil itself, which is positive, but they didn’t mention who organised it or the community effort behind it. That’s in contrast to how they often highlight organisers and context for other vigils. I’ll leave it to your readers to decide if that’s balanced journalism.
Feel free to use the above details if you’d like, I have no objection. The focus should stay on remembering Alex as the kind, caring man his family described, and supporting them in their grief.
Thanks,
Patrick"
A beautiful and moving turnout this evening on Mill Road, Blanchardstown.
Around 500 people came together in silence to remember Alex Coughlan; laying flowers, lighting candles, and showing solidarity with his family at this heartbreaking time.
Alex was remembered as the kind, caring and selfless man he was. The community stood quietly in his honour.
May he rest in peace.
