The #IndianBrave made the supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 10 August in 1995 in Kupwara, J&K

On 10 August 1995, the unit received information about the presence of terrorists in Wandrawal forest area of Kupwara district, J&K, and decided to launch a search and destroy operation.

L/Nk Parsaram was part of the team assigned the task of neutralizing the threat of the militants in the unit’s area of responsibility. As the operation was underway the troops were attacked by the group of militants hiding in the area.

L/Nk Parsaram who was acting as a scout for the assault team quickly signaled his comrades to take positions to retaliate.

A fierce gun battle ensued thereafter with a heavy exchange of fire. In the meantime, L/Nk Parsaram observed that a terrorist hiding behind a boulder was firing incessantly and proving to be a serious threat to the lives of his comrades.

L/Nk Parsaram without caring for his safety quickly decided to neutralize that militant and got down to crawl to his position.

Crawling for over 10 meters through the hail of bullets, L/Nk Parsaram finally reached the intended position and killed the terrorist. However, one more terrorist emerged from the other side and fired at L/Nk Parsaram. He got seriously injured but unnerved he kept firing and killed the other terrorist too.

L/Nk Parsaram later succumbed to his injuries and laid down his life.

The #IndianBrave was awarded the Shaurya Chakra posthumously. 🏵
