STATEMENT: False report about Charlie Kirk shooter’s mother working for Rutherford County Schools
September 12, 2025
Rutherford County Schools and Rutherford County Sheriff's Office
The mother of the alleged Charlie Kirk shooter does NOT work for Rutherford County Schools.
While there is a school district employee with a similar name to the mother of the suspect in the Charlie Kirk shooting case, the RCS employee is not related to the suspect in any way.
The employee has started receiving hate messages and media inquiries since the suspect’s name was released earlier today. The employee’s name and photo have been removed from all school district websites and the employee is temporarily deactivating her social media accounts. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office and Rutherford County Schools have also received concerned and aggressive calls about the employee, but again, it is a case of mistaken identity.
Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh asked people to stop jumping to conclusions and making assumptions.
“This person does not have a connection and has nothing to do with this individual,” Fitzhugh said.

The Voluntary Pre-K class held its first Goodies with Grands. We had an amazing turnout with 28 grandparents and grands joining our students for some breakfast, reading, and an art project with their little ones. We had a grand old time.
