MAJORITY BOYCOTTS PLENARY SESSIONS - CAYETANO
JUST IN: Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano announced on a Facebook live stream that the majority bloc will not be attending the plenary sessions as retaliation for the minority bloc's walk out on a vote pushing for online participation in the Senate on May 26.
Cayetano also alleged that the minority senators are trying to overturn the leadership in the chamber to vacate the Blue Ribbon to stop the planned hearing on Thursday.
"Ginamit nila yung parliamentary tool na walk out para hindi matuloy ang pag-change ng rules. So ngayon po, ang majority ginagamit rin po yung rules sa tama, morally and legally, to ensure na hindi agawin ang mga committees para po matuloy ang hearing ng Blue Ribbon sa Thursday at ang iba’t iba pang mga importanteng hearing sa bawat committee," he said. | 📸: Cayetano/Facebook

Jimmy Kimmel goes after Trump and Brendan Carr for trying to shut down his show:
“The President made it very clear he wants to see me and the hundreds of people who work here, fired from our jobs. Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods because he can’t take a joke…
This show is not important, what is important is we get to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this”
Since the start of August, progressive groups have reported Tagkawayan, Quezon as a hotspot of intensified military operations, including bombings, strafing, and clashes. The local government and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, however, dismissed these reports as “fake news.”
Human rights group Tanggol Quezon on Aug. 3 reported cases of bombing and strafing in Brgy. Maguibuay that happened the day before, which put the lives of farmers and residents in danger. A similar case happened March 2024, where three copra farmers from the same barangay almost died because of these bombings.
Despite repeated denials from the government and military, their subsequent actions tell a different story. A series of information drives sought to portray Tanggol Quezon as purveyors of “fake news,” while barangay officials in Maguibuay declared progressive organizations persona non grata.
