Wide-pulse NMES of quadriceps allows greater maximal evocable torque (better training effectiveness ?🏋️♂️) and lower maximal tolerable current intensity (less pactical issues with maximal stimulator output 🪫)

@jeannedekerle@LIBM_lab@Univ_St_Etienne For my PhD, we use 200-µs and 1-ms pulse duration for conventional and wide-pulse protocols, respectively. The pioneer study of D. Collins suggested the use of 1 ms but to the best of my knowledge, the effect of wider pulses (e.g. 2 ms) are unknown.
@jeannedekerle@LIBM_lab@Univ_St_Etienne Thanks for your interest! We consider the cut-off around 500 µs because most of commercially-available stimulators have an upper limit of 500-600 µs.
