We are delighted to share our joint #Estyn and #CIW inspection.
“The children thrive at the setting and respond very well to the numerous opportunities to develop independence.”

A #fascination with bar codes after noticing 1 on a tin of beans led to us taking a trip to our local @coopuk in Usk. We updated our role play shop produce to include barcodes and a scanner, after our visit to co-op we updated our shop too. Welcome to Little Explorers Co-op Usk.
We loved celebrating Lunar New Year, we looked @ examples of lucky envelopes & had a go @ making our own. We saw Abbie celebrating with her family & learned some traditions - cleaning/getting rid of ‘bad things’. We have seen child initiated decorating and celebrations this week
#RSPB#BigGardenBirdWatch we have been busy making marks to represent the birds we have seen, we made bird feeders and loved watching the birds from our bird viewing point.
We would like to wish you all a very merry, happy and magical Christmas, where you get to spend time with your loved ones and keep them just a little bit closer. May you laugh until your tummies ache with joy! Merry #Christmas and happy #Hanukkah everyone. Nadolig Llawen.
#Mathematics#earlyyears Each session we count the children & grown ups in nursery. We use counting cubes to represent the people, we add them together for a total. Everyone has a go at writing the number on the whiteboard and know their mathematical marks matter.
Seize the weather not the season today! Mae’n bwrw eira. We don’t often see this in autumn. How wonderful to experience this and have some fun in the snow. #aweandwonder#snow#autumn#wales
#recyclingweek
We recycle with the children every day at Little Explorers, whether it’s plastic, cardboard, paper, tin or left over food for the birds & ‘food bin.’ During recycling we had lots of great questions from the children. “Where do we recycle rusty old cars?” @MonHSPSS
There’s not much nicer than the smell of fresh apple crumble! Last week we went for an autumn walk to harvest some apples, we spent lots of time practicing cutting apples up so small they could fit in an small tray, this week we are making apple crumbles and they smell delicious.
Lovely couple of hours spent at @LExplorersUsk last night, sharing good practice&learning all about their setting. It's so important that we have opportunities to do this&remind ourselves of the passion behind early years childcare and education. Feeling inspired!@EAS_EarlyYears
We have been busy in Little Explorers, transforming our kitchen/messy room into a room that feels so much more like home. Functional, comfortable and homely!

Diolch Jamie, Alan & Trevor for visiting nursery this week & show casing your musical talents. We absolutely loved trying out the drums (and playing our own drums along side) rocking to the nursery rhymes & playing the keyboard & listening & dancing to the guitar #music#rhythm
Wow! Wow! Wow! 10 minutes after the children arrived in nursery today we experienced this. We were very quiet while we watched the butterfly emerge from its cocoon, what an exciting day.!
Last week we looked back on our special books with the children, the photographs through the year reminded us of the wonderful experiences we have had. We talked to the children and decided we would have a recap week. Today recalling the Chinese New Year celebrations. #revisit
One of our 4 year olds.. “What will happen if our #caterpillars turn into #cocoons when we are not in nursery? “ Well that’s exactly what happened but luckily we rigged up a lamp and time lapsed it so we didn’t miss some magic of nature. @EAS_EarlyYears #stem#aweandwonder
