🚨🔵 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘: Chelsea's strongest front three might not include João Pedro as the striker.
I won't be surprised if Xabi drops João Pedro a little deeper as the second inverted 10, partnering Cole Palmer, and lets Jackson or Emegha take the nod as our actual striker going into this new season.
Because let's be honest, getting Rogers in isn't looking realistic right now. And that tweak alone, just that one change, might give us more firepower than we think.
Now if Enciso was to be brought into the fold, that's where things get really interesting.
If that happens, I'd actually say João Pedro should stay as our 9. Then Enciso and Cole take up the 10 roles either side of him.
We're still yet to know if Enciso's even part of Xabi's plans long term. But I feel like he's exactly the kind of player Xabi would love working with. That profile just fits.
Back to my main observation though. João Pedro is flexible. Versatile. He can play as a 10 without losing anything from his game.
Using Emegha as our 9 changes the whole conversation because he brings something completely different to the team. A different kind of threat, a different profile up top.
That way, one of Jackson or Emegha ends up as the backup striker, while João and Cole become the ever present 10s behind whoever's leading the line.
Estêvão's a good shout too, yeah. He's qualified for that 10 role just as much as anyone. But do I see Estêvão and Palmer as our two inverted 10s together? Honestly, I can't tell yet.
I just feel João Pedro and Cole make more sense in that role right now, the chemistry's already there.
Now imagine a front three of Jackson, Palmer and João Pedro. Isn't that scary enough on its own?
For me that's massive firepower. And that's before you even remember we've still got Estêvão, Emegha and Enciso who can all come in and change a game off the bench.
Would you rather see João Pedro nailed on as our 9, or dropped deeper to unlock this front three?

Lol, this is just me thinking aloud…
I always knew Szoboszlai and Trent were close, so it got me wondering.
Could it be that Trent had already made up his mind about joining Madrid long before everything unfolded? Or maybe he never really tried to convince Trent to stay because he knew his own decision was final.
We’ll probably never know what was said behind closed doors, but it’s an interesting thought.
