Solid weekend of work on the new guitar.
Lovingly referred to as “The HuckleJerry Finn Tele (LFS Edition)”. I had to learn a few new things:

1. I’ve never worked with pickups that have a single wire with the hot wire inside a shielded (negative) braid. But I was able to figure out how to handle it. I honestly don’t know why anyone uses this wiring in their pickups given all the options out there but it is what it is.

2. I wanted to faithfully recreate Jerry Finn’s setup with a Hot p90 (neck pickup), custom p90 (bridge pickup), ceramic magnets, and a reversed control plate. That required some mental gymnastics on what wire goes where so that when I flip it into the control cavity the switch still makes sense on what pickup it’s switched too.

3. Seymour Duncan @SeymourDuncan (and basically everybody) apparently do not have schematics for p90’s wired to a single tone and volume knob. The single coil counterparts also don’t help because those pickups don’t have the aforementioned issues with the hot and ground mixed together in one wire. So I did research with Claude Opus 5.5 and had it make me my own schematic (image2) fully aligned and oriented the way I intended.

I got everything staged and ready for soldering and multimeter testing whenever I come back to it. Time to stop for weekend.

Trump, of course, hired Lutnick as his commerce secretary where he made billions for his company by insider trading on the tariff discounts. Billions paid for by all of us through higher prices btw.
