@MitchellMcNal11@SAKGF I think you're spot on! Through project based learning, students will continue to develop these skills! My project will take in aspects from @BigPic_EducAust! You should definitely have a look at their approach to education
A wonderful video from @SAKGF showing the impact a school garden program can have, not only on the students but the community as well! A great opportunity for students to learn about #responsibleconsumption and #production!
What are some ways to incorporate #SDGs? #uonteach
"It's wonderful for kids to get out there in the sunshine or rain, get their hands dirty, communicate with each other, cooperate. Problems are posed, and they have to come up with solutions. It's very good for their wellbeing overall.β

@AshleyPippen Its great to see Victorian Schools getting experts involved! School gardens can be linked to so many KLA's and strengthens a number of elements in the QTM! Students will be hands on working on real world issues! While doing this, they will be developing 21st century skills
Victorian schools garden program advocate @Costageorgiadis explaining why school veggie gardens are so important across KLA's and our curriculum. A great opportunity for teachers to identify ways in which we can promote #SDG12 and sustainability! #uonteach

@AndosTeaches@HunterWater Fantastic to see big organisations like @HunterWater involved in local schools! Students can see how they implement their plans and projects and think about how they can add to or improve any of their own ideas when it comes to #cleanwater & #Sanitation!
@AndosTeaches A big part of my local community is access to clean beaches and baths! This would be a great opportunity for students to critically think about solutions to this problem - you could potentially look at using DeBono's 6 thinking hats to observe different perspectives on this issue
@AshleyPippen It certainly opened my eyes to how we impact the environment! I think students becoming the driving fore behind projects is great. You should look at how you can incorporate De Bono's 6 thinking hats to assist with their ideas and projects!
A wonderful documentary and now providing schools with the resources to meet the curriculum needs. This program is not just driven by educators, but by children and communities all over the world, committed to making an impact on #ClimateAction & #Responsibleconsumption#uonteach
Introducing the 2040 Education Portal, that provides schools & educators with a comprehensive package of FREE curriculum resources. Versions of the curriculum are mapped to the Aussie, NZ, UK & Irish curriculum, with a U.S. version on the way!

@AshleyPippen I completely agree! I think it will be a fantastic opportunity for your students to get out into the community and have the local voices heard! I will be inviting local members and experts to talk with my students about their gardening program.
These projects are not just to benefit our students, but the wider community! Collaboration between the students, local community members and local government is vital to success! How can we involve the community in our projects? #Educ4750#uonteach#SDG12#community
@AndosTeaches Very few students will sit down for the 6pm news, having a program like BTN allows students to access news content in a fun and engaging way! They cover all topics that are relevant to our students!
Using ICT in lessons is a great way to engage students! I have found that BTN is a resource that students love, actively engage with and start the conversation around what they can do when faced with issues, in this case #responsibleconsumption#UoNTeach

@AndosTeaches Great Idea! I think a bush tucker garden would a wonderful way of meeting the cross-curriculum priorities! Students could further look at how Aboriginal people managed the land they farmed on and how they could incorporate these methods for a number of SGD's
When looking at #resonsibleconsumption, it is not just about what we eat, but what do we do with our food scraps after? Teachstater has a fantastic blog on composting in the classroom and how it can link to the curriculum! #UoNTeach#SDG12#sustainability

@MissLindus@DSFoodWise Educating our students is essential in making an impact on our food waste! Love your idea about reducing plastic and food waste in the school canteen, it would be great if you could incorporate a school garden so that the vegetables produced can be used rather than buying in.
@Jack_KehoeUON Such a fantastic way for us to engage students in our lessons! By incorporating Minecraft and other ICT, it will increase interest and create a deeper understanding of the topic we're introducing!
Effective teaching is knowing how to implement different pedagogical approaches. When looking at critical issues like #responsibleconsumption & #production, incorporating De Bono's 6 thinking hats is an amazing way for students to think critically about these issues!
#UoNTeach
Graphic organisers are such a great way for our students to effectively plan! These would be fantastic in the research and design phase of students projects! What are some other ways students could help students when introducing a new topic?
#UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG12
Starting a new topic can be quite daunting for students, using graphic organisers is an effective way of introducing new ideas such as #sustainability#SDG12 that keeps it simple and engaging. Below are some of my favourite to use - what is your favourite? #UoNTeach#EDUC4750
Our immediate thought is global not local when looking at issues! We need to ensure our students know what their actions are impacting, both positive and negative in our local environment! With Barrington Tops NP so close, how could we link this to any of the SDG's?
#UoNTeach
If anybody thinks back to when they did their HSC or any study, you know the ridiculous amounts of paper and notes we went through! With the development of technology and increased use of computers for our students, is paper becoming obsolete and a thing of the past?
#UoNTeach
Here is a #confronting image of what paper overconsumption looks like. How does this image make you feel or what does it make you think? #SDG12#Educ4750 https://t.co/jWRfCfqISu
Across all stages, picture books can create a deep understanding and use higher-order thinking skills to develop meaning. These are just a few books that you can use as a teacher to get your students thinking about #sustainability#responsibleconsumption & #production#uonteach
What a great resource @Oliviacowieuon1! A fantastic opportunity for our students to see what action is happening in their local community and recognise what steps they can take to implement action at their school
#uonteach#Educ4750#SDG12#community
The Newcastle City Council 2030 plan includes consideration of the UN #SDG's. This can be used as an enquiry tool for students to find out what measures are already in place to help the local #marine environment. Students can identify key partners in the community.
