A while back I was at a restaurant with my wife, and we were enjoying the view as the sun began to set. Then I glanced at a table nearby where a young family was sitting.

The dad was on his phone, the mother was on her phone, and the baby was on a tablet—in fact, there was a tablet holder in the stroller!

I thought, “What are we doing to these kids?” We put them in front of devices and bombard them with information, and I wonder whether their brains are forming properly. Are they even learning to read social cues and communicate?

What concerns me is that a lot of parents are leaving their kids to themselves. Yet it’s the parents’ job to raise their own children. God created the family, and He loves the family.

And as someone has pointed out, a family can survive without a nation, but a nation cannot survive without the family.

Prayer is communicating with and hearing from God. True prayer is aligning our wills with the will of God and praying accordingly. We want to keep the lines open to Heaven to both speak to God and hear from Him.
Yet many of us are reluctant to pray. We don’t really know how to pray, and we’re embarrassed about praying.
However, prayer is something that we all need to be doing. In fact, it’s something the Bible commands us to do. First Thessalonians 5:17 tells us, “Never stop praying” (NLT).
Prayer is not an option in the Christian’s life. It’s both a privilege and an adventure. And it’s something that we need to keep learning about for the rest of our lives.

In Joel, He is the Outpourer of the Holy Spirit.

In Amos, He is our Burden-bearer.

In Obadiah, He is our Judge and Savior.

In Jonah, He is the risen Prophet.

In Micah, He is the Ruler of the world from Bethlehem.

In Nahum, He is our Stronghold.

In Habakkuk, he is the Watchman

In Zephaniah, He is the Mighty to save

In Haggai, He is the Restorer

In Zechariah, He is the branch of David; the One pierced for us

In Mark, He is the Servant. Miracle Worker

In Romans, He is the Justifier.

In I Corinthians, He is the Resurrection

In Philippians, He is our Joy.

In Colossians, He is our Completeness and the glue that holds our world together

In I & II Timothy, He is our Mediator.

In Philemon, He is our Benefactor.

In Titus, He is the Blessed Hope.

In Hebrews, He is our Perfection

In James, he is the Power behind our faith.

In I, II, III John, He is our Truth and Everlasting Life

In Jude, He is the Foundation of our faith. Our security

In Revelation, He is The King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

◦ The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and The grave couldn't hold Him!

◦ Nero couldn't crush Him,

◦ Hitler couldn't silence Him,

◦ Other religions can't replace Him, and The world can't explain Him away!

◦ He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.

◦ He is Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.

◦ He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.

◦ His ways are right, His word is eternal,

◦ His will is unchanging, and His mind is on us.

◦ He is my Redeemer, He is my Savior,

◦ He is my guide, and He is my peace!

◦ He is my Joy, He is my comfort,

◦ He is my Lord, and He rules my life!

JESUS DOES NOT CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

HE REPLACES IT

How does the thief on the cross fit into your theology? No baptism, no communion, no confirmation, no speaking in tongues, no mission trip, no volunteerism, no financial gifts, and no church clothes.

He couldn't even bend his knees to pray. He didn't say the sinner's prayer and among other things, he was a thief. Jesus didn't take way his pain, heal his body, or smite his scoffers. Yet, it was a thief who walked into paradise the same hour as Jesus simply by BELIEVING.

He had nothing more to offer other than his belief that Jesus was who He said He was. No spin from brilliant theologians. No ego or arrogance. No shiny lights, skinny jeans, or crafty words. No fog machine, donuts, or coffee in the lobby. Just a naked dying man on a cross unable to even fold his hands to pray.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whoever BELIEVES in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) That is the good news of the Gospel!

Why?

- age/maturity gap (6th-12th grade)
- availability (sports, dance, etc.)
- cultural acceptance

It's crazy how so many hotels don't even tidy your room or change towels anymore.

Just like all the restaurants that don't take your orders any more... Nor even have physical menus.

'The pandemic' became a permanent excuse for a lot of poor service.
