New low for DUP
Kids in care need greater support 4 better life than "pro-lifers" willing to give
Not all families look the same. Some single parent, some 2 partners looking after each others kids, some have LGBT+
Not all faith groups share DUP ideals, where's their liberty?
Our local party chair @stephenpglenn has been an unsung hero of the Equal Marriage story from Scottish conference to Stormont and many stops in between. He is clearly delighted with today's news.
I know I used to be a long distance runner but this has taken 10 years and only now am I seeing the finish line. Ten years from the idea, to the motion to conference, to policy, to law in rest of British Isles. Now circle is almost complete.
Footage shows foreign office minister Mark Field MP removing a protestor from the Mansion House dinner earlier this evening.
“It looks to be a very difficult situation for everyone concerned,” says @AlistairBurtUK#newsnight | @KirstyWark
In Northern Ireland people of the same sex can’t get married, unlike in the rest of the UK. That’s not right. We need that to change because, in the end, #LoveIsAllWeHave 🏳️🌈
Good to see a far number of new NI LGBT Councillors joining the ranks of those that were returned from a number of parties across a broad spectrum of political opinion. Sad though that we have also lost a few.
Glad that on Transgender day of remembrance @TwitterSupport decided to unblock the @LGBTLD which is Tweeting the 2018 list of remembrance so that the TERFs can't exclude those lost this year
Our local party chair does know a thing or two about how tolerant equal marriage should be, he had a hand is drafting Lib Dem policy that first came through Scottish Party.
So apparently allowing me access to equal marriage while allowing faith groups the right to make up their own mind allows Arlene Foster to claim that equal marriage is an intolerant world. #EqualMarriage#DUP#Shame
If they think merely getting the Stormont that was there before ignoring LGBT+ equality, women's right to choose, even integrated education. All things that one party has been able to block by a petition of concern is Better then NI deserves better than #WeDeserveBetter
Morning folks. We have arrived at work this morning to find our offices broken into. It is a week and a half until Belfast Pride week and this is not what we need. We rise up, we continue. https://t.co/zcYTJa4kao @williamcrawley
My piece on @Independent today: Arlene Foster’s tone deaf speech to the LGBT+ community shows the DUP are playing a losing game https://t.co/Jn7lWzTfeH
Tha marriage equality campaign was won three years ago when we had a majority vote in the Assembly, which was blocked by a petition of concern @johndoc240 #PinkNewsBelfast
.@naomi_long says that although she would welcome marriage equality coming in through Westminster, ideally it would come through the Assembly here. #PinkNewsBelfast
It is a sad day when it is those who propose equal marriage are more inclusive of others than those that Christ commanded to go into ALL the world to ALL people. 3/3
The Liberal Democrat policy on same-sex marriages is to allow faith groups that wish to do so the ability to do so IF THEY WISH. Something that in England, Wales and Scotland has been taken up by some faith groups. 2/3
We know that there are/have been Presbyterian ministers and Elders with lesbian daughters and gay sons (or other relatives). Our hearts go out to them and their families today after the debates @pciassembly https://t.co/ssQHy1bXxv
The party that denies marriage equality, minimal change to abortion and more integrated education by petitions of concern wants to reclaim rights agenda https://t.co/XUNLjREC6k
