Delighted to receive a parcel today from the son of famous alumnus Air Vice Marshall Johnnie Johnson. He has donated the athletics cups won by his father in the 1930s. The 1931 Half Mile cup was won in 2 mins 20 seconds!
Very welcome news this morning that all school pupils may be back in school on 8 March. Let’s hope that the infection numbers continue to recede before then.
@LboroGrammar News for Y11 parents: Edexcel has cancelled its IGCSE (Maths, History) with Teacher Assessed Grades instead. No news yet from CIE (Geography). Details of how grades will be assessed for all exams will be announced by Ofqual on 22 February
The consultation on how to replace GCSE and A Level exams is open at https://t.co/ejq2OeEZVM . We expect the conclusions in early February. Don’t believe all the media is presenting as fact. This is a consultation not confirmation!
The decision to cancel exams was made with far too great haste. Students could easily have taken exams; desks could have been 5m apart for social distancing in an empty school. The unfairness we have seen at LGS could have been avoided.

This reflects our experience at LGS. Some schools have obviously inflated their predictions. Not us: ours accurately reflected an excellent academic year group. The number of lowered grades (28%) is a serious injustice https://t.co/1py4AUlSoW
@LboroGSYear7 I’ve loved reading about the amazing constructive things Year 7 boys have been getting up to. What a good use of your time during this lockdown!
Another example of LGS-LHS collaboration. Important to get exercise during lockdown so Dr Miles and I are playing badminton over the fence between our houses @LboroGrammar
We are holding an impromptu CCF parade this afternoon as we can’t be sure that the Annual Review will go ahead. Boys have christened it #disinfectionday
Listen to 2018’s Deputy Head boy Nathan talking about Latorio - his tailored clothing business - and his passion for supporting those who use sign language. Starts at 12 mins 30. https://t.co/JWTMArs53F
Parents of adolescents need to be aware of how easy it is for young people to be sold illegal drugs in a social media age. We had some hard-hitting messages at our recent Drugs Info Evenings - please help this message get to those who couldn’t attend. https://t.co/4ehKryAE0Q
@bernardtrafford Our conversation with pupils continues in assembly on Thursday when I will be explaining that I haven't 'banned' banter (as reported in the press). I just want boys to remain conscious of the need to think before they open their mouths.
@bernardtrafford Thank you Bernard for your article. How we choose to express ourselves matters if we want the world to become more sensitive to difference. https://t.co/EyD6zHSk3S

Politicians criticise info schools for elitism. It saddens me that LGS is not the school for our town as it was for 400 years. We could educate so many more from modest backgrounds if Govt met us halfway. Give us the normal school student capitation and we pay the rest #HMCConf19
