If Justin Fields struggles early, don’t be shocked if we see a QB change by midseason.
New team. New system. And a rookie HC who didn’t draft him and values a winning culture. He's never thrown for 2,600 yards or 18 touchdowns.
The leash might be shorter than people think.

@matt_dinic@FantasyPros In college leftover pizza was one of the best choices for breakfast. I'm now at the age where there are an infinite amount of better decisions I can make.
NFL Week 6, Here’s What I’m Looking At
- This is the least interesting main slate of the year to date, but the primetime games come with some intrigue.
- Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams should be an annual matchup to look forward to for many years to come, so it’s easily the most interesting game on the slate for me. Unless Chicago fixed things during their bye, Washington’s very well constructed run game has an excellent matchup in this contest.
- Chicago’s pass rush has also struggled, but the Bears get back slot corner Kyle Gordon while Terry McLauren is still out. Daniels will still make his plays, I’m sure, but it would make sense if Washington’s early game plan was run centric.
- For Williams, this is the rare instance where an early season bye may be a good thing as Ben Johnson is a new coach, with a young quarterback, and the bye afforded him the time to go back and look at how to fix certain problems. Chicago is also healthy on offense, making the dynamic of how Johnson attacks Dan Quinn’s defense a point of great interest to me. I’ll also be curious to see if DJ Moore is a bigger part of the game plan than he’s been, and if Chicago starts using their tight ends more in the passing game.
- The Lions have such a well-constructed offense that they are one of very few teams where I’m not real sure what Steve Spanualo is going to try to do to limit them. If Goff is comfortable, he’s made a habit of playing with super high efficiency, but if you pressure him early, that’s when he’s more uneven.
- Patrick Mahomes has looked like his old self the last two weeks, and this is a good spot for that trend to continue.
- Buffalo is coming off a bad loss to New England while they haven’t been overly impressive for three weeks now. Of all the teams in the league I probably have the worst read on Atlanta, because they have enough talent to be dangerous while also having one of my least favorite coaches in recent memory in Raheem Morris. Atlanta is coming off their bye, and this looks like a game where Michael Penix’s offense likely has to meet or exceed expectations to give Buffalo a real run.
- I’ve said for a while that the Chargers enjoy high-end coaching and QB play, but they have an overrated non-QB roster. One of their strengths, their OL, has been greatly reduced by OT injuries. Miami’s one strength on defense, their edge disruptors, matchup well against the Chargers’ injury voids at OT. Chargers wide receiver’s could have a field day against Miami, but how well they do will boil down to Miami’s pass rush.
- OL is a weakness for Miami as well (though an expected one), and the Chargers do not have a highly talented front that can make them pay for that weakness. Does that mean Minter brings heat? If so, Tua still has two difference makers in space in Waddle and Achane.
- The Packers, who are coming off their bye, have advantages over the Bengals in multiple areas. Green Bay’s pass rush should be a problem, and the Packers have advantages on offense just about everywhere.
- Despite moving to a new team, I view Joe Flacco as a bigger threat than Jake Browning in this one. Getting more accurate passes to Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins is the obvious potential upside, where if the Bengals are going to compete in this game those two WRs will need a few chunk plays that essentially headline a few scoring drives. Two years ago Green Bay had a good corner room, but that’s not how I see it now.
- One interesting aspect here is the Bengals have two tight ends in Mike Gesicki and Noah Fant that could play a bigger role with the tight end pepperer Flacco over the coming weeks.
- I have zero faith in the Titans coaching staff, and generally I don’t like volatile teams coming off improbable/ emotional victories, but Tennessee has a trench advantage on defense and there is a clear path to Cam Ward having his best game to date. And at the end of the day, I have no confidence in the Raiders, either.
- Ashton Jeanty is a stud when he has room to run, but that line play deficit with Kolten Miller sidelined, I understand Tennessee has been a not great run defense, but I don’t think that’s a foregone conclusion here.
- One aspect of Ravens vs. Rams that’s interesting for me is that when Saquon Barkley shredded the Rams last year, his mammoth production came on plays where he got to the second level and busted big runs. Getting to the second level and breaking runs has been a hallmark of Derick Henry’s career. That said LA is far more likely to fill the box in Baltimore this week than they would be if Lamar Jackson was live. That to me, says, Cooper Rush needs to proactively get Zay Flowers on some crossers early on.
- I’d imagine the temperature in the Browns locker room right now is not great, after making two trades this week. While their defense is still capable of winning games on their own, this seems like a get right spot for the Steelers defense.
- Drake Maye played well in a big spot last week, but as I said on Monday I’d put most of that win on Mike Vrabell’s defense. I could see New England’s defense being a difficult problem to solve for Spencer Rattler. That said, Kellen Moore vs. Mike Vrabel is a matchup between two coaches getting a lot out of their back of the pack rosters.
- I do not have a very good read on jaguars vs. Seahawks, but I do find it very interesting that Seattle is a road favorite.
- If the 49ers WR room was at full strength, I’d see this game having some significant shootout potential. Since it’s not, I lean more towards this being a game that San Francisco’s defense will have to lead if the 49ers knock of Tampa (which I don’t think they will)
- I believe Shane Steichen is a genuinely good coach. In some of these games, Daniel Jones play has really surprised me, more often recently his play has reminded me more of his Giants playoff run, where he was basically a game manager that didn’t turn the ball over. This is another spot where Indy probably doesn’t need Jones to do too much for them to be in a good position here. That said, I’m pretty confident I will be one of those guys that’s waiting for the bottom to fall out on the Colts all year.
- I am very curious to see if for one week Jacoby Brissett is actually good for Harrison and McBride. I don’t think he would be long term, but it wouldn’t stun me if he was for one game.
- I love a good revenge narrative, I don’t think Rico Dowdle gets to have a revenge spot, though.
- If Dak Prescott continues to play at a high level, as he has for most of this season, that makes this a game Bryce Young has to go out and win. I’ve tried to get there all week, but I’m still not there.
I will try to do this every Saturday night of the NFL season, but to be clear I am doing this for the purpose of growing my following. That means engagement is my requirement so I reach new eyes, likes, comments, retweets, and bookmarks are all appreciated.

Outside receivers (left chart) and slot receivers (right chart)

[QB, RB, and TE opponent-adjusted fantasy matchups are in this same thread]
How to Interpret:
Romeo Doubs and Matthew Golden's outside matchup against DAL is +14.3 PPR
After adjusting for quality of outside WRs, DAL's defense has allowed 14.3 MORE outside fantasy points per game than expected (!!!)
@NFLFrascella@abearjoo That argument doesn't make any sense. If two teams play even but a screen gets run to the house by a receiver....does that make wins a receiver stat?
Matchups In Motion: Week 3
- James keeps Cooking
- Vintage Metcalf & Diggs incoming?
- Bench your Browns
- Bucs-Jets hit the nuts game script: heavy fave against a run-funnel DEF & heavy dog against a pass-funnel DEF

Mahomes is a weekly lock, right? Not so fast. Week 2 sets up for a surprisingly quiet outing from the QB1. My breakdown here:
#FantasyFootball#nfl#Chiefs
I'd wait QB (unless Allen or Jackson drop) and just go with whichever of those 3 drops furthest, I view them similarly. Obvious Ja'Marr at 1, then I'd go Ladd or McBride if they're on the board. Evans or Tyreek would be next, although the vives for reek have been scaring me off a little bit. 4 WR and 2 RB or 3 WR, 2 RB, and 1 of the elite TEs would be the best start.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Many are complacent to the idea that the Packers “have a bunch of WR2s”
Matthew Golden looks like the clear cut WR1 and joins a team that was 8th in scoring last season
One of my favorite picks at cost in 2025
